Re: 240z ANDO WERKS
thanks Bernie,
I was looking at those products the other week, really nice looking stuff.
Not sure if I'll use those or go to CV's.
plenty of other things to sort out before I get there haha
Can't wait to get this thing back on the road. Waiting for parts to arrive has been slowing this project down soo much.
In the future I won't be pulling it off the road till I have everything I need (although it's those little unexpected things that get ya)

Back into making videos again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mleQFVzIhJU&t=1s
Pretty un Z related except for the little update at the end.
- Should have the speedo issue fixed and the gearbox back in very soon
- Basically what happened with the coilovers, is I went through an NZ dealer, as I wanted an NZ contact in case of any issue, rather than having to go back and forward with KW in Germany (hindsight, should've just gone straight through KW)
However, the dealer made a bit of a stuff up, didn't understand the nature of the work and i've just found out my struts have been sitting in the office in Auckland for the last 3 months, rather than being in Germany being turned into glorious adjustable coilovers.
The original lead-time was going to be about 6 weeks.
Long story short, we're another 6 weeks away, safe to say i'm pretty gutted about it, just hoping they are here before xmas.
Also is there a trick to posting photos? I can't seem to figure it out
cheers,
Connor

Part 2/3 of the KW coilover nonsense:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnvnrkOzGEw
editing the 3rd now
surprisingly the car has held together after all my work, except for a fried battery (but it was time for a new one anyway)
cheers,
Connor

Excellent trio of videos !You have a real knack for explaining clearly what you are doing and why.
The aerial footage in the drive part was really cool.
Good to see my old wheels still rolling, for now anyway!
I am interested to know what spring rates those coilovers use , front and rear, and how you find them..
I installed coilovers years ago when the car was used mainly on the track. Now that it
is used mainly on the road with a few track days each year it is probably way over sprung.

Cheers guys, appreciate the support.
Steve, wheels are doing the job and don't look bad at all, happy with the purchase.
However, I'm a bit of a wheel nerd so theres a few on my list to get, just can't decide what to go with!
Spring rates are 40N/mm (4K) front and rear. I think thats pretty good for sporty street use and i'm sure they would go alright on the track as well.
Now i've got to figure out what to move onto next.
After the manual swap, turns out the cheap 260z 5 speed box I got 4 years ago isn't in perfect condition. some people might of noticed in the video it has a bit of a crunch if I rush it into 3rd.
Originally I just got the box for the bellhousing to put it on a 71C box from a SR or RB. It shouldn't be too hard at all now to do that conversion, so I just need to track down a 71C box.
Also as some have mentioned the auto diff at 3.5 is too long. I'm keen to do a 3.9 Subaru STI R180 LSD swap, but not sure what to do for axles. If I really need to spend the extra money on CV's or stick with the standard ones? the car will probably never make more than 200hp so i'm not worried about strength.
Just thinking out loud now, the list of things to do is endless!

Bernjean is busy doing the STI diff swap atm. Think he brought some stubs from America and then swapped the universals over to allow you to bolt both ends.ConnorAnderson240z wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 10:03 pm Also as some have mentioned the auto diff at 3.5 is too long.
