Which oil?

Post by 07pearl » Tue Jul 11, 2017 6:00 pm

I have a 350z HR 2007. I am coming up to the first service and oil change since I bought the car. I know that the using the wrong oil can cause problems with the valve timing control. My car is going really well and I don't want an oil change to result in problems, or any drop in performance. What the best oil grade to go for, semi or full synthetic. 5w40?

The age old question... I'm about to do another service with Penrite 5w-40 full synthetic. My 2002 350Z has seen nearly 164000 kms (17k of my own) and uses minimal over a long trip or hill time attack
Service book probably says 5w-30, but that was 10-15 years ago. Just buy quality and keep service intervals in check, I either do 10,000 kms or once a year whichever is first.
In a long distance relationship with my 260z

I used Penrite 5W30 full synthetic in the end. I am very pleased with with the results. The car is actually performing better. Quicker response and more grunt. I have noticed more induction noise. I think the previous oil was some cheap stuff. It came out nice and clean though.
