Hi All,

I recently purchased a 72 240z from the whangaparaoa area.
I think its an Australian import, pretty tidy condition, interior is really good, no serious rust I can find and the paint is ok.
Still has L24 with SU carbs and a bit more aggressive cam.
Currently has automatic in it, which I am looking to get rid of ASAP, so if anyone has any parts for a 5 speed conversion please let me know.
Also has a strange vinyl sunroof which will have to go in the future.

A bit about me: Im originally from Oakura, just south of new plymouth on the taranaki coast line. Studied mechanical engineering in auckland and have just moved to Dunedin.
The car is in auckland at the moment but will hopefully be moved to new plymouth in a month or 2 and then maybe to dunedin in the next year once I get a flat with a shed.

Plans with the car, keep it pretty stock for now (but change to 5 speed and some cosmetics) and just enjoy it.
In the future I hope to do a modern engine swap to something a bit lighter. I like the idea of a VQ35hr and some RS watanabes (like mikey's).
For sure intend to get it on a track once I get a bit more experience behind the wheel and see where it goes from there.
Look forward to meeting everyone and taking part in some events.

Will try use up some post so I can get photo privilege.

A few years back I was staying in whangaparaoa with some friends and the neighbour had his shed open and I noticed the tail end of an s30 sticking out.
A while later he was walking up the driveway and I asked him if I could have a look. We got talking and he said he would sell it if the price was right.
Being a student at the time I had to let it go.

Fast forward to a few months ago he sent me a txt saying he was looking to sell it an would give me first choice if I was still interested.
The price was right and since got examples of s30's are getting so hard to find for a good price, I decided to go it.

This is actually my second z, I had a 260z 2+2 years ago for a short period. But due to rust issues I decided to get rid of it.

Short term plans for the car are:

redo the exhaust
Fix the oil leak, not to sure where its coming from yet
manual swap to 5 speed silvia gearbox
paint the mustard parts of the car (grill, tail light surround, wheel centres) black
fix up the rear bumper and get it back on the car

As i'm in dunedin and the car is still in auckland, not much will happen till summer.
I hope to have a flat with a garage next year so I can bring it down here and enjoy it properly.

I think this is my 5th post so time for some pictures...

It does look tidy. You were lucky your old neighbour gave your first option. Well done.

Nice looking car. Look after the headlight covers they are not only very hard to get but really expensive.
If you want to retain value upgrade the original bits rather than change major components. But my take is that you need to enjoy the car so make it what you enjoy.

I really just want to enjoy the car as much as possible and I'm 99% (never know) sure I wont be selling it for a long time.
In saying that I don't plan on making it something it's not. I love the old school japanese feel, so I want to retain that.
