wheel and tyre fitment

Post by B101 » Mon Mar 14, 2016 12:25 am

hi guys,

Im looking to fit some rubber to some rims i have work CR01's 16x10" Fronts and 16x11' Rear, is there anything you guys can think of that might fit these wheels specs. I have been looking at Toyo R888's and thats about all i can find at 255/50/16 with a bit of stretch. i know these are a semi slick dot rated tyres but i dont have many options.

any input would be great

Found another option that fits a little better, Toyo proxes TQ 275/45/r16. Has anyone fitted a 275 tyre in a 10" wide rim before?

It'll bulge a little bit but should be okay, I've got 275/40/17s on 10.8" rims.

Thanks for that DJ, have you tried fitting a 255 tyre on a 10" rim before?

I had 255s on the 10.8s, that's one of the reasons I had to get the 275s. Make sure whatever you are doing fits into the LVVTA fitment chart or tyre manufacturers specs if you want to stay legal.

The charts in the lvvta site only goes up to a 10.5" wide rim for a 16" wheel. What happens with an 11"wide wheel? Does it go to manufacturers specs?

When I was certing mine manufacturers specs over ruled what the chart states but that may have changed.

Yeah I can't find any information on what overrules what, you would think the manufactures specs would stick but since the new laws have come out I could only guess.

What brand of tyre is that DJ?

The one in the picture is the 255 which is a Hankook, I'm running Nitto NT555s now. Let me know how you get on with finding 16s, a mate is just getting some BBS RS wheels widened for his Z, I told him tyres were going to be expensive and hard to find.

Do you have any photos of the stretch with the wheels standing up? I have a couple options for a 10-10.5" wide wheel but nothing legal so far for my 16x11"

This is the 255, it was a bit silly, one of them started leaking from the bead once they were put on the 10.8s. I'm not a big fan of stretched tyres.

This is what the 275s look like

Those 275 look good on the 10.8" rim are they legally aloud on that size wheel?

Yup, they are good for 9" to 11" wheels according to their website, it passed cert fine. They'd look silly on a 9" rim.

I run Toyo R888 and Hankook 245x45x16s on 9inch wide fronts and 10 wide rears never been a problem and aren't over stretched on the 10s

They wouldn't pass cert on a road car, possibly on the 9s, not on the 10s.
