Good idea, done. No excuses folks, get your entries in and help those folks at the Ascot by booking your accommodation and remember entry price goes up on Friday

Just a quick reminder that the $110 2017 track-day payment expires tomorrow at 5.00pm after that its $135 or $160. If you have paid and not entered please complete your entry or entered and not paid please complete your payment.

Remember these things:

. Lunch is included
. Independent professional timing
. More time on the track than most can handle
. Club track is easy on your road car
. Prizes to burn
. Best value track time in NZ
. Expert tuition for first timers
. Low key informal social gathering and BBQ on Friday and Saturday at the Ascot, so drink without driving if you are an Ascot guest.
. Bring any car, don't stay home if it ain't a Z, there's a place for your car
. No form filling on the day just sign your digital entry and skid

Also remember to book now at the Ascot, Z Club underwrites these bookings and we don't want to pay for empty rooms.

Entry is Here

Please note this event is now on again, we can only apologise regarding the on again off again nature, this has been beyond our control, please get your entries in and make this a ripper event

Below please find an abridged and censored version of the email sent to registered entrants for the Trackday.

We have been notified on last Thursday by the management of TMP Ltd that our booking for the track day, made in March 2016, has been cancelled in favour of a three day motorcycle event.

We are naturally disappointed in the cancellation of our event which was less than 8 weeks away and the inconvenience it will create for you the participants, our motelier hosts, the organising committee and the club in general. Of course we are even more disappointed in the behaviour of the management of a track who’s shareholders shunned the approaches of a private buyer claiming to be a bastion of grass roots motorsport.

At this stage we have objected in very strong terms to the cancellation but the #%&$%#@ that run the organisation have not responded and have only managed to “composeâ€￾ a very poorly thought out and dismissive email cancelling the booking.

The alternative dates offered to us are either mid January, too soon to re-schedule, or mid April, too late for stable weather,.

The committee has decided that they have no alternative but to cancel the event for 2017.

We are naturally reluctant to re-book at Taupo and are considering possibly a Manfield event, or maybe a hill climb or bent sprint for 2018 preferably remote from Auckland to ensure the Aucklanders are forced to socialise and don’t rush back to their burrows at the end of the event. We would be happy to receive suggestions or help regarding an alternative for 2018 or late 2017.

Again the committee extends their apologies for this cancellation but it is beyond our resources and control to do too much about it.

Wishing you all a pleasant and safe holiday break.

Regards

Andy Mygind

Has the frazer club also been bumped from the other half of the track?

Disappointing - this is my favourite event each year and I spent a lot of time, money and effort getting the Red Zed ready for this. I really feel for the members of the Zclub who also spent a lot of time and money as well with organising accommodation, getting MSNZ approval and the other many things that makes these events run.

[s]Very poor business practice by TMP (the organisation that runs the Taupo Track) and dissapointing that 'the pursuit of money' has overtaken integrity and the promotion of grass roots motorsports. [/s] good on TMP for reinstating the track day.

Seems that this is now the way of Motorsport in NZ. I personally believe that our vibrant amateur motor racing racing scene is why we punch above our weight in the number of drivers participating in international motorsport.

Soon if Tony Quinn and TMP Limited continue to get their way, we are going to be like every other country where only the wealthy (or those with sponsors) get to participate in motorsports.

Seems Pukekohe track are now introducing their own GT Club like the hampton downs one, so once again only more restriction on the ability for the casual racer to get onto the track. Go to any HD GT Club day and you will see 4 or 5 cars racing around the track, before at playdays there was 60-70.

Well done NZ Motorsport facilities, what a great way to improve our sport.

TMP Ltd have rescinded their cancellation, this event is back on again.

Please help this be a knock out event and get your entries in. This is the best track time money can buy, join us for a skid and a get together.

I've just rebooked at Ascot Park and they still have rooms available so best to book early in case they fill them with other people.

And it looks like you can buy tickets to an event that we have been told we have the track again?

Right looked on a motorcycle forum I am member of and this is all I could find.
Got into the new'Mylaps site' to get some results and try to figure out who was who ?
This M.Dunlop fella not in the results ? Maybe results from TT don't tranfer over to our little tracks ?? Anyone shed any light on happenings at Taupo ?
the press release friday said that he was only a maybe for sunday racing due to the paperwork not all being ready,
So looks like NZSBK might only be running on the Sunday - or Michael Dunlop might only be racing on Sunday - not clear on that based on the posting.

Just got back from holiday. Camping at the top pf the Coromandel at Doc campsite. Great weather until we had to pack up. It rained until we were finished packing up. Good to hear that track day is back on again. Well done to whoever sorted that out.
