After getting more problems with my 350z I took it in to get scanned yesterday. The scanner showed something interesting with regard to the valve timing:
At idle the following values are given:
Intake Valve Timing Bank 1: 31 degrees
Intake Valve Timing Bank 2: 4 degrees
The P0011 code is still there which indicates this fault. However I have worked through the diagnosis procedure for this fault code, identified a faulty sensor (Intake valve timing bank 1) and replaced it, the issue still remains, however I am at the end of the diagnosis with no other identified problem areas.
So my question is, what should these values be and what could cause them to be so different?
To the best of my knowledge the engine hasn't been apart so unless there has been a mechanical failure, it seems unlikely something should be installed incorrectly etc in the valve train to cause this.
