Good luck Andy and Anthony, lets hope you can see where you are going this time!
Give some Rainex Black a crack for the interior windows, as helps with interior fogging and also increases the clarity of the glass, similar to what Rainex Yellow does for the exterior glass. Follow the directions on the box to a tee for best results.Andy wrote:All stages at Taupo Race Track, goto http://www.classicrally.org.nz/ for details, entries now closed, 50 entries. Yes Rainex "helped" in the Naki. we will still use but now have two 12volt hairdryers wheezing up through the original vents and a element on the front screen. Have been reluctant to go back to a system requiring us to run the coolant back into the cabin because of weight and complexity. Only issue now is the draw on the electrical system. The elements are run with "modulated " power and are on a 10 minute timer, we'll just have to remember to switch off the hairdryers!
What a day. Thanks to Anthony for finally getting the car up where it belonged. 3rd overall and 2nd in category, great result considering the field of 50 cars.
Pipped by 6 seconds by a 5 litre Capri. Event won by a blown RB34 engined S15 Silvia. Anthony knocked off some big hitters with his aggressive driving style and late braking. Also won Stage 1.
I finished around 1/2 way down the pack, good result for me.
I think a second overall would have been possible, as we were running the car twice, Anthony was seeded nearly last and passing lower seeded cars like they were picket fences but having to alter raceline. Tyres and brakes on the beast not much good by the end and lost alot of time on final stage with a car that wanted to visit the armco.
Co-driving duties were more lap counting duties as once around, driver knew where to go on the remaining laps.
Ant got me back for Taranaki as I had a wee spit after the final stage.
Great event, well organised by a passionate team, think about an entry next year! Race cars are ok as no public roads.
