The new motor runs ... sort of - advice needed

Post by Pedey » Wed Jan 15, 2014 9:18 pm

Hi everyone,

It's been a hectic few months but I started my newly rebuilt L28 on the triple Mikunis and have a bit of a problem. I figured I'd bounce a few things off you guys to see what you thought/had experience with in the past.

The motor is not running on all cylinders. It appears that cylinder 6 and maybe cylinder 5 are not firing. They are getting spark and the carb is spitting fuel and is wet, but the cylinder is not running. When I pull the plugs, especially number six, it's dead clean - not wet at all. Interestingly, when i adjust the mixture screw on the carb in question, it will make changes (stop or start the carb backfiring).

The timing appears to be correct. It's almost like the carb is getting fuel but it's not getting through the intake runner to the head.

Any thoughts or questions for me from the carb guys? Any thoughts would be much appreciated - we're so close but so far!
