Air filters for triples

Post by chris'ntrish » Sat Oct 05, 2013 9:12 am

I had a 'nearly nasty' experience with foam filter Ram Flo filters on my triple carb set up .i.e. ..backfire ... then fire!! Want to avoid a repeat. While K&N would be my preference, they don't seem to list any units for Dellorto DHLAs and pipercross only do twin set-ups I think so it's three separate units or ???? I'm hoping someone has knowledge of whether there is a 'universal' fit K&N or other filter system which has non-flammable filter material.
While an airbox would be an ideal solution, there's so little room to fit anything prefabricated that would 'flow'. All wisdom and experience welcome.

Hopefully Nzeder will pipe up here, scuse the pun. :D I have seen in his possession a Nissan triple airbox with remote filter that would suit your restricted space. Work of OEM art.

All in due time guys. But what I have is very hens teeth and from a factor triple carb Prince/Nissan skyline + a 280z (USA spec S30) front air filter box feeding this rare part. And this setup does flow and has been dyno proven on a number of engines including a 3.1l race engine and make 10% more mid range over pod filter + custom airbox or vs open trumpets.

I will post more info later in my build thread.
