S130 V8 the monster lives

Post by Wasral » Sun Mar 24, 2013 6:32 pm

Hey guys,

I acquired this car in late December of this year, all the hard work was done completely legal for the motor and gearbox work it was ready to be driven.
the major downfall, it was a total train-wreck, the interior is almost non existent having no carpet, most trimming pieces gone there was pretty much just 4 seats, a dash and a steering wheel the bare minimal really.
The engine bay was full of rust and had untidy wires and hoses for miles, the clutch was tired and slipping like a trooper.
The exterior is in pretty good condition, been resprayed in a glossy Toyota purple the only downfall is the wheels, I don't like the look of them and they're only 215's :o I think I will be needing at least 265's or more if I can fit them.

I started with the engine bay simply so I could have some fun in it right away, with the clutch slipping as bad as it was I think it was only natural.

Heres a few photos of the engine bay before I started, the only thing I had done was alloy 3 core radiator- unfortunately I have no pics of the bay before i done the radiator.

Heres a few closeup shots to show extent of rust and crap that was throughout:

While I was waiting for the engine crane I thought I'd begin on the sanding:

Finally the crane arrived, sadly I can't find any good photos of us actually getting it out but heres a few of after-would :P

last minute sanding jobs, sanding almost complete =)

Motor out, a few before pics of the motor as it came out:

Time for that new clutch, got a exedy 6puk single plate clutch, I had my flywheel machined and lightened and a much newer pressure plate and throw-out bearing:

The engine after paint:

Chrome pace-paker headers arrived:

Alloy Radiator overflow and windscreen squirter bottles arrived:

After all that effort being spent on the motor it was time to finish up on the bay so I could put the darn thing back in and DRIVE!

After a good clean with grease and wax remover and about 8 coats of etch primer:

Ready for paint:

I ended up painting the bay in satin black simply cause the color is universal, it doesn't shine to much and it doesn't look bogan like matte. heres the bay painted:

Finally it was time to put the motor back in about 6 weeks later:

The fruits of my efforts, paid off =)

Next thing on the list is the interior

Tried to edit them for you to get them to work. Didn't work. If you cut n paste the IMG code, for the net, then paste the IMG in. 8)

ahh Bronzee, where would us men be without you :)
Someone had to make up for all the pollutants these hybrid cars are saving these days, so i cranked up the fuel pressure and let the engine roar.

FYI, the img tag doesn't like URLs with a % in them. It's a bug in the forum software we use.

Hmm, "%20" is ASCII HTML code for a space, so...

Copied and pasted a random link, changed tow "%20"s for " "s and popped img tags on...

lets see if this works :D

No the image name/file should not have spaces in it...us IT type hate white space in files - I usually put a _ in place of %20 aka space.

testing the img - resizer mod I did for the forum many many many years ago.....does this work for others? First is an image from my own website - not dropbox (I hate dropbox from an IT security point....but that is just my opinion)
Image

And now an image from Dropbox

Image

Now given dropbox images are not just the image but a webpage with the image embedded in it (I can't find the actual source location of the image in this 1 minute looking) so I will try my embedded URL/site link method and see if this works.

[web]https://www.dropbox.com/s/eu0x8785jq62k9i/Done1.JPG[/web]

No that does not work either :(

So the only thing I think you can do with drop box is this.

This is an image of the motor Done this is using your https://www.dropbox.com/s/eu0x8785jq62k9i/Done1.JPG image using this method

Code: Select all

[url=https://www.dropbox.com/s/eu0x8785jq62k9i/Done1.JPG]Done[/url]

So does this work?
Image

This is the trick the default image links from dropbox are https://www.dropbox.com/s/eu0x8785jq62k9i/Done1.JPG so you change the www to dl ie the above image resize bit the code looks like this.

Code: Select all

[img width=220 height=140]https://dl.dropbox.com/s/eu0x8785jq62k9i/Done1.JPG[/img]
So I hope you don't mind I went back and edited all your images links above :D

Cheers
Mike (site admin - very very part time)
