PLEASE NOTE, THERE IS TO BE NO VEHICLE MOVEMENT OF SHOW VEHICLES BETWEEN 9.30am - 4PM!!
Moving traffic inside other than "official" vehicles is strictly prohibited by OSH requirements. Any vehicles trying to depart prior to 4pm will be banned from future events & may be liable for any penalties imposed on the organisers.

The theme for 2013 is: "Forty Years of Fabulous” - highlighting your marque, members and milestones over the past 40 years (or longer if you wish).

Enter the Classic Cover Insurance “Best Club Display” and you could win a great cash prize for your club. You don’t have to be big or even long established – it’s the idea that counts (just like it did when imaginative club members started this event 40 years ago).

If you thought the 2012 Concours show was great, 2013 will be extra special as it's the 40th Anniversary of the show - "Forty Years of Fabulous!" There will be a full weekend of Classic Car activities, culminating in the Intermarque Concours d 'Elegance on the Sunday.

* Sunday 10th February we return to Ellerslie for a whole day of events, including the 40th Intermarque Concours d'Elegance.

2013 will be the biggest classic car event ever with more clubs, more cars, more commercial exhibits and expect record crowds. 2012 had over 80 car clubs on display, 2013 promises to be more. So make the New Zealand Classic Car Weekend 2013 a priority event- as there is bound to be some extra special cars there.

100 HOLDENS HIGHLIGHT ELLERSLIE CLASSIC CAR SHOW

Around a hundred pre-Commodore era Holdens will feature in a spectacular display to celebrate the Ellerslie Intermarque Concours and Classic Car Show’s 40th anniversary on February 10, 2013.
The event’s host, the Early Holden Club, will show 1949 – 1984 Concours-standard restorations, project cars and everyday drivers in as many body styles as possible.
The display is designed to evoke memories and nostalgia for thousands of spectators and enthusiasts, especially those who grew up in the era when the marque dominated the pre-import NZ motoring market.
Visitors to the Early Holden area will encounter hosts and hostesses able to share knowledge, memories and reminiscences to ensure those times are not forgotten!
The annual event is one of the largest motoring events in the southern hemisphere, with some 80 car clubs showing an anticipated 800 vehicles from existing and extinct marques dating back over a hundred years.
A highlight of the “Forty Years of Fabulous” themed show will be display of Concours winning classic restorations from the past 4 decades staged by major sponsor NZ Classic Car magazine.
Organisers have spent months trying to track down over a hundred vehicles.
“Some of the winning cars have unfortunately left New Zealand,” says display organiser Ashley Webb. He wants owners of cars that have virtually “disappeared” to make contact.
Not surprisingly, new vehicle distributors, dealers and restoration industry suppliers snapped up most commercial display sites months ago to target the affluent classic car owners’ market.
Expect to see the latest releases from Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Land Rover, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Mini and Volvo to name a few on display.
Show co-sponsors Meguiar’s, Classic Car Cover Insurance, and Personalised Plates will back events or displays during the day.
But the biggest attraction for most clubs is the Intermarque Concours Awards entries with a handful of world class restorations vying for the trophy as New Zealand’s best.
Restoration costs can be mind boggling – with some winners spending half a million dollars or more on their pet projects.
The end result reflects the high standard of NZ’s vehicle restoration industry which ranks with the best in the world.
In the past some locally restored cars have taken laurels at overseas events including the famed Pebble Beach contest in California.
The MG Car Club launched the first Intermarque Concours d'Elegance in 1972 as an inter-club affair. MG became the first winner of the Inter-Club Challenge Shield with honours also going to Alvis, Studebaker, Jowett, Riley, and Citroen Car Clubs.

Forty Years of Fabulous.--!971/72/73

Thats around the time the Zed destroyed the competition in the sports car market, and elevated Nissan to number one.

I had a great day chatting to people about the running cutaway l28 engine. Lots of interest, and positive comments.

Thanks guys for the help off and on the trailer.

Brian.

A big thank you to Us2 for bringing along the standing engine. It certainly was a great crowd pleaser, providing much interest. And I believe there were even a few teachers and lecturers that were very interested in the engine with all the cut away parts really shows how the internals of an engine work. 8)

Lots of people by our club site looking at the Zeds and asking questions. 8) Well done everyone, and thank you for all coming along to display your Zeds and helping set up the display, and other club and forum members who stopped by to visit. 8)

Many congratulations to the Mini Club for winning the Motokhana!!! 8) 8) Also many congratulations to the Mustang Club for winning the Teams Event - Masters Class. 8) 8)

"Could you pass this description of a bracelet which was lost by a lady at Ellerslie on Sunday to your members? It has great sentimental value to her and she has asked if we could circulate its description in the hope that someone may have picked it up.

The details are as follows:

Description: Wide Silver Oval Bangle. It is approximately 2cm wide, hinged with push down opening with short chain. Top side has filigree with space in centre where name 'Ruth' has been engraved. Back side is plain. It was in a small clear plastic sealed bag.

I think I knocked it out of my handbag without noticing when I took out the mobile phone. This bangle has huge emotional value to me as it was given to me 50 years ago for my 21st by my only brother.

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely Ruth Bowen Ph 07 823 5453"
