Would it be better sticking an old set of tyres on for this?

Do you have to go so hard and fast you need to skid and slid around cones?

Use the old tyres. The surface isn't as smooth as a race track surface. It's a disused runway.

This is an aerial pic of the course:

This used to be part of the NZ Grand Prix circuit.
I can remember standing near here and watching Sterling Moss and other legends. Around 1958 I think it would have been.

A few years before that, probably1954 or 1955, i remember riding my pushbike out to Ardmore from Papakura, and watching the Grand Prix being won by a Prince Bira from Thailand, which was then known as Siam. I think his car was a Maseratti.
It was rumoured he was seen on the day, with a local lass, emerging from one of the many open dry ditches that surround the airfield.
Someone gave him the knickname 'The Drainlayer'.
There was an English driver, Ken Wharton killed at an Ardmore Grand Prix. I was not there.
The circuit was closed to racing in the early 60's.

I have four ugly mag’s and some used race tyres which would be perfect for this event for sale if anyone is keen.
The rims are 16 x 7 perfectly round with no damage and will fit any 240, 260 or 280ZX and clear any brake or spring setup.
The tyres are one pair of Toyo R888 225 x 45 x 16 and a pair of Dunlop D02G 225 x 45 x 16 these tyres are dot rated race tyres with a hint of tread left, perfect for racing.

They are on the rims and balanced ready to go $400 or offer

Cheers Ricky

For those of you Motokhana'ering if you would please either direct credit or deposit your event fees into the club's account as per the first post. This is a pre-pay event to save time on the day.

Event go ahead rain or shine. There will be cover under the building awnings and under the Event HQ tent. But we've ordered good weather that day, so rain cover won't be needed.
