Z31 Build

Post by Adz117 » Thu Mar 08, 2012 8:38 pm

Hey guys

Just starting the Z31 build, RB30, half cage, GTR brakes and struts etc. Bodies wicked straight just a few spots of rust that needs to be tided up. Upload some pictures tomorrow when it's light. going to be a long one so I thought I'd upload the build as it comes along. Let me know what you guys think as it's coming along and any ideas on how to make it better are always welcome.

Welcome to the forum Adam. Is this Z going to be a track Z of some type, given you commenting about the half cage? Good luck with the project. 8)

yea defiantly going to be hitting the track but still road legal, but I thought if I went for half cage I don't have to have a race licence and I'm not required to do track time if I don't want to.

being in Cambridge you can come over any time and check it out any time you want but defiantly going to use them make life so much easier with the small things such as engine mounts etc which are always annoying to get sorted.

The 200ZR mounts/sump are getting pretty hard to find these days, out of interest the left hand engine mount from an RB30 VL Commodore is the same as the LH 200ZR mount except for having the anti breakage lock thing, I'm using one on my RB 280ZX. Make sure you baffle/trap door the sump when you get it made/modified.
Nissan 280ZX 2 seater RB26 powered.

Its a good thing mines not a 200ZR then :D but sump and mounts are the easy part to get done, one of the mates is an engineer and he'll do up the custom sump and custom mounts that'll be a lot stronger than any I could buy second hand or new. None of this build is going to be hard, it's just all time and money. but thanks for the heads up.

Did you buy your Z31 stripped out like that, or you've been hard at work already?

going to be all new custom wiring anyway all the loom is being ripped out and most of it is being changed like I'm getting rid of auto windows so the rest shouldn't be hard just time consuming, its not going to be a quick build it's probably going to end up being a 5 year build at least
