Just a heads up to those folks that are thinking about staying at the Ascot Hotel, Z central when we're in Taupo, as we've pencil booked the whole hotel, you won't be able to book online via their Ascot website, you'll need to phone Jocelyn & Murray (owners) to book your accommodation.
Never a dull moment in Taupo there is a Summer Concert in the Park and the Cross Taupo Lake Swim the weekend we're there! Will be busy again.

The guy at Bellavista Rotorua races a highly worked classic mini, so I'll stay with the Bellavista Taupo

Thanks for the heads up. We don't book the Bellavista, just advise when people may overflow to there. Aaron knows we're due. Aaron did say today that their hotel is filling up really fast due to the major swim event and all the people coming for the big international music festival.ForemanNZ wrote:The guy at Bellavista Rotorua races a highly worked classic mini, so I'll stay with the Bellavista Taupo

There's that old school concert on in Taupo that night too, Pat Benatar, Bachman & Turner, America, if you dig that jazz.

Great to see the number of people that have registered for Taupo Track Day already, but PLEASE save the team time, so we don't have to follow you up and fill in all the details required please!
Also if you have a valid race licence, please include all those details so we don't have to pay for a day licence for you.

Roll up, roll up, come join in the Z Fun!!
It's a fantastic weekend, and that's not just the track day! Driver training on track day morning, lunch, plenty of track time in the afternoon, and lots of Zedders!!
With a special announcement, we're very proud to announce, we've had final clearance from MSNZ so will be doing Make a Wish style rides in the caged race cars for Child Cancer Bay of Plenty children. Please make them and their parents/guardians feel welcome.

The Taupo site answers most questions. And cotton is very adviseable as apposed to polycotton (more flammable).zara wrote:A few super noob questions:

Sorry for all the newbie questions, haven't been to Taupo before.
Extinguisher must be bolted in, and no loose items anywhere in the car, cd's and the like, including engine bay.

Driver training is in the morning, and one of experienced driver trainers will go out in with you in the passengers seat and give you pointers. You're bound to find it very beneficial as most people do.
If you ask one of the guys with the caged cars nicely during the day, they may take you out in their cars, and that's usually a fantastic experience for those that haven't been in a fully prepped race car before. Each trip in a different race car requires a sign on the dotted line before entering too.
We run through all the details on the morning at the drivers briefing.

The Ascot Motor Inn, have just advised that they only have 4 rooms left for the nights we're there 15/16 Feb:
2 twin studios
1 queen studio
1 two bedroom
For anyone that hasn't stayed at the Ascot, they're very car friendly and we have our own parking area.
