I have had the car back since Friday the 16th of December. A big thanks to James and Daryn at St Martins Garage in Christchurch who both really know their Zed's. Also a big thumbs up to James on the forum here who put me on to the guys at St Martins and also the guys who offered technical advice and links to valuable websites etc.
The project has taken one month which is pretty good going. The car is sitting on standard size tyres as that's my preference. I know some of you refer to them as biscuits but I'm going for a completely stock looking car. I think it's now sitting correctly and instead of being like a dray to drive it's pretty much as good as my modern(ish) Mitsubishi Galant as far as comfort goes. I think Daryn and James have pulled about an extra 10 or 20 horsepower out of the engine with a full tune up, timing, new points and serviced distributor, valves set, cleaned and serviced carburetors and a modern Bosch coil etc. There's a few things still to be sorted but they aren't major problems, hopefully.
These Datsuns are really beautiful cars and I think Mr Katayama and Nissan absolutely got it right first time.
There's one more package to arrive in the post......D hubcaps
I'll post up a final picture of her with those fitted and that will be about it for the time being.
And just one more thing, I read a description of these early Zed's as being "Light 'n Tight" Ain't that the truth!

Lookin' good TC, can't wait to get behind the wheel! If only to second gear in a straight line...
Wanted to buy: Seiko diver's watch or Seiko GS watch

No way Axe, she was built to be given "the fang" so that's what she'll get!
Please ignore, need 5 posts before I can post photos.

Here's a couple of photos from my Christmas eve ride in the 240Z.
The turbulence on the plane ride home wasn't nearly has hair raising after driving this beast on the Summit Road above Akaroa!
Note the 1979 Seiko "Tuna Can" professional diver's watch for authenticity .
PS: Would love to hear from anyone who's also got a vintage Seiko diver's watch!
Cheers,
Alex

I've just finished an eBay purchase that took over a month to complete due to the items being delayed in transit.
The upshot is that of the four hubcaps I bought one wasn't in too good a shape so I contacted the seller. He totally
accepted my point of view and his opening offer was a $150 USD refund with no return on the goods. I counterclaimed
at $100 USD which I thought was more reasonable. It was a great outcome for me so I googled his name (creepy, isn't it?).
It looks like one of my hubcaps is at 07.30PM from where he is standing in the picture below.

I've had a few days off work so I have swapped out the steering coupler for a nolathene one from Motorsportauto. Cheaper that getting one in from Australia
or SMS. I'm pleased to say it's made a hell of a difference. Truly, it was the weakest link.
