I reckon! It's hard to beat full noise in a well sorted zed dancing through the countryside, just as satisfying, look at the family component of the crew on the last day, two of them navigators and still talking to the old man.

In the background our two Aussie adoptees who became our good friends, won Category 0 and took out third in index of performance.

So good to hear once again club members helping other Zedders out where they can. Benefits of the club. 8) Great to hear all had fun, even with a few niggles along the way! Well done to Alan's mighty Jaffa coloured 240z and team too. :D

And there is a desperate need for some more older classic cars on the Tour - this year there were only 5 of us and 3 of them were travelling at a pace that any standard Z could keep up with. I did enjoy both following and being followed by Larry in his 350Z (and beating him at the Springhill Farm airstrip "drags"). The neat thing about the Tour is that you can drive at your own pace - I think you have about 80% of the fun at 30% of the cost of the full Targa.

Interestingly enough, 3 of the navigators of other cars on the Tour owned 240Zs!!!
Yes goto the Targa website and register for the Tour, or better still the main event. Just released the new categories and rules, we can now go to a 16" wheel on S30's and V8's cannot compete in categories 0,1 and 2

New Competition Structure

As mentioned at prize giving we have been working on the new competition structure for 2012 and detailed below is the how they will be subdivided. We have also listed on the website the 2012 Targa NZ Events dates and pricing structure, so take advantage of the earlybird pricing and get your entries in early before you close the office down for Christmas as like last year the first cut off date is 15th December.

Classic 2WD Competition- Vehicle models over 20 years old, based on the last year of production of that model.
Category 0: 0-1399cc
Category 1: 1400-2299cc
Category 2: 2300-4199cc (maximum 6 cylinders)
Category 3: 4200cc & over (Super GT)

Modern 2WD Competition- Vehicle models new to 20 years old based on the last year of production of that model.
Category 4: 0-1999cc
Category 5: 2000-2999cc
Category 6: 3000-4199cc
Category 7: 4200 & over (Super GT)

Allcomers 4WD Competition- All 4WD vehicles regardless of age
Category 8: 0-3499cc (Turbo restrictor required) vehicle models older than 10 years based on the last year of production.
Category 9: 0-3499cc (Turbo restrictor required) vehicle models new to 10 years old based on the last year of production.
Category 10: 3500cc & over plus all unrestricted turbos (Super GT)

Limited numbered production vehicles and performance GT production vehicles may automatically go into the Super GT category of the appropriate competition. All vehicles will be allowed only the following modifications to remain within their appropriate capacity category for each competition, otherwise they will then be placed into "Super GT".

All vehicles:
Brakes are free.
Suspension is free, providing the original pick up points are used.
Production size intake and exhaust manifolds.
Gearbox ratios and differential ratios are free.
Engine management units are free.

2WD Vehicles:
As per "All vehicles" plus the following;
2WD drive vehicles may increase the production wheel diameter by a max of 2”

4WD Vehicles:
As per "All vehicles" plus the following;
4WD vehicles must retain production wheel diameter.
All cars are accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee with a high standard of car presentation being the main criteria.
Preference will be given to Sports, GT, V8 cars and cars with competition history.

A great photo of Andy's 240Z in the latest Classic Car mag and several mentions of Allan in TargaZ.

Can't say I was too impressed about the car in the cartoon being upside down. Luckily we didn't get close to doing that on this year's Tour although last year was a different story!
