I have completey cleaned strut and surrounding area with degreaser. Shock itself is rust free. Took car for spin to get dinner and gave it death over speed humps, we have 6 or so and never showed any sign of leaks. Tie rods turned up today so will install tomorrow. So far so good.

Past warrant. I got asked had I cleaned or replaced strut/shock. Said nah, just cleaned and test drove showing no leaks. He said there was a small weep but wiped it off with his rag (bull ____). Will check it again next time.

Isn't the main point of putting oil down the shock tube to help dissipate heat from the insert out thru the strut?
