Post by Brock365 » Mon Dec 19, 2005 8:01 pm

I usually run my 280ZX on BP Ultimate, as I've discovered it runs best on that, but theyve run out of it, and want have any more for few weeks. Im annoyed.

They originally said mid December, and my local just got it back today. The thing that REALLY bugs me now is their money grabbing price. Last year it was 6c more than 91 octane. Today it is 11c more than 91 octane. I want to know why the big price hike, compared to 91.
Thats not even counting the fact of all petrol prices rising.

I was reading the other day that Brazil has gone to a 85% ethanol mixed with petrol. The ethanol is made from corn/weat etc (ie grown locally no oil OPEC as the 15% oil/petrol they use is locally sourced also). The advantages are higher octane = better burn lower emissions. However low CR cars don't like the high octane so the fleet must be high compression ratio engine (I am ok with that) use slightly different fuel map for this high ethanol fuel + a good fuel tank/lines etc as the ethanol can be more corrosive. So might start to make moonshine at home :) add some petrol and run high CR EFI L28.

Might be what we all have to do in the future :?

one reason BP has given for higher petrol prices is an increase in the cost to them for transporting petrol.
I may be wrong here but isn't the reason transport prices have gone up due to petrol prices increasing in the first place?
