280ZX clock

Post by Brock365 » Wed May 24, 2006 7:25 pm

I have the original digital clock in my 280ZX dashboard. It works sometimes, then othertimes it goes out, yet even when it goes out, when it comes back, it is still the correct time. Any ideas?

The clocks in Z's have always been crap, try swapping it for another one or you could try resoldering the joints and giving it a good clean out with electronic cleaning stuff, CRC make it, you can buy it from Dick Smiths I think.

in the 300zx the clock sometimes needs a resistor replacing for having the same symptoms. Take it apart and look for a resistor made of charcoal. Also the LED screen on them gets a bit of crud between that and the PCB. Cleaning sometimes fixes them.
