Datsun 280ZX IMSA GTU race car build...
Re: Datsun 280ZX IMSA GTU race car build...
Drum roll for tomorrow.........
Slowly getting there...
It had a few hours run time today, to get the fuel map and other bits tuned to some sort of base line.
Some very minor oil leaks to fix, but otherwise went flawlessly.
Some 'debris' found in the oil filter after cutting it open, but nothing serious, just shows it works. Running in Oil looks fine.
Will need to add back the mechanical throttle stops, as it has a hard time returning to idle without them.
The throttle response is outstanding, and even at only 6000rpm, it sound's very meaningful.
Take the results below with a pinch of salt, this was the first time on the dyno with a rev limit set to 6k.
It was basically to get all the functionality and to find any gremlins, such as the throttle stops etc...
248hp @6000 rpm & 207 lbft @ 5400rpm. [Hub Dyno]
...take a look at where the power curve is heading, at least its in the right direction!
First startup, and first proper idle video's are on the FB page.

Looks good for this stage. Interesting to see the dips in power and torque around the 4k mark..
can that be tuned out to some degree?

That looks good Grant. It will be interesting to see what they can do once you have had a chance to run it in a bit. Good to see that it still has strong power at 6,000 rpm so you should be able to stretch it out much more and if it continues to increase at that power band rate, you will get some good horsepower.
Keen to see how it tunes up after you run it in a bit.
