When (and Why) did Prince become Datsun then Datsun beome Nissan? I only recently was told about the Prince name.

It was always "Nissan Motor Company", Datsun was just a trading name. The prince was probably the same.

DAT, Nissan and Prince were all different companies. I won't try to explain it all as I will cock it up somewhere. Here is a website that should quench your thirst. Enjoy the history lesson.
