New to the Z club

Post by TeamTate » Mon Sep 11, 2023 5:31 pm

Hi there,
My hubby Alan & I are newbies to the group 😊
Over the weekend, I test drove a

2003 NISSAN 350Z
6SPD MANUAL
Remote key installed
Grand touring, electric seats with leather seats.
Apple car play head unit
Brembo brakes
Aftermarket Exhaust and tail lights
Fresh painted spoiler
Fresh engine oil, Gear box oil, clutch fluid.
155,xxxkms
No engine oil problems, gear 3 crunches slightly during shifts.
Always been run on 98 fuel.
Cars been sitting as i have upgraded.
Been started weekly just for maintenance purposes.

It was fantastic to drive, love love love the orange paint work & my offer has been accepted, pending selling our Nissan Fuga. Very sensible to very fun lol

I did notice the slight crunch going into 3rd gear once out of many changes.
Was advised new gear box & install approx 4K

Is this a common issue?

Be good to hear from those of you that have experienced this please

Can anyone also based in Christchurch please advise of their preferred service/repairs mechanic?

Thanks 🙏 in advance
Cara

No never heard of any issues. They are strong gearboxes. I would suggest that it would need an oil change. If you speak to a gearbox shop explain what it is doing they should be able to suggest a good oil to use.

If the oil doesn't do it, I am guessing replacing 3rd synchromesh will, certainly not a new gearbox.

Have you picked up the 350Z yet?

I have used Christchurch Nissan since 2010 and have had no issues.

Yeh as said above, if anything a new syncro on third and new oil,..
Definately not a new gearbox.

Hi there, thanks the comments 😊

Great to hear the common replies, will definitely look into those.
I haven’t heard the issue since I’ve had it 😁

Yes, we picked up it last week & I’m loving the drive up the expressway to work now.

We’re keen to head out for a good drive & meet others in Chch with 350Z one weekend.
Is there anything planned that anyone knows of?

Enjoy your day ☀️

The club committee is based in Auckland so the events are all in the North Island. Are you a member? and would you be interested in being a coordinator in Christchurch. The committee could supply you with names if you were willing to take on that task. That would enable you contact local members for events. If you are interested can't t me on bernjean59@gmail.com
