Nice looking 964 - how do you rate it as a driving experience compared to the old school z?

Umm. 20yrs between them so very difficult to quantify.
964 is an amazing machine which combines the classic looks and "modern" mechanics derived from 959 supercar...... she just goes! and you have the certainty of 4 wheels drive / abs / big brakes etc etc.
240z was amazing for its time but such old technology now. My RB build should bring it up to date a bit but still far behind the development the 946 had.
Difference between 240 and 964.....exactly 724 and it feels it sometimes.
Both brilliant toys though. Very Lucky to be able to experience both from day to day.

So......it happened again. Opps! BadHabit by name....Badhabitz by nature!!
I got bored and something came up that seemed interesting.
First spotted on Craigslist doing my usual scan of all things Datsun and then on eBay so jumped in quick.
The guy selling it just does barn find cars! Ultimate job!

Ad read:

1974 Datsun 260 Z coupe
This baby has been in Southern California its whole life and is 100% rust free
Real deal one owner un restored barn find
The engine is the matching numbers straight 6 cyl with a manual transmission
Factory A/C
The original owner drove this Z until 1989 when she broke her ankle and was not able to drive manual transmission anymore , she then parked it in her garage from then until now when it is up for sale !!
Mileage shows 113xxx that is true and accurate
I've taken pictures of all angles and locations that would usally have rust and you'll see it is as solid as can be !!
Paint & Body in Great conditon has had one repaint color change from Green too White in the early 80's
This Datsun will need some love and attetion due to sitting so long with out being driven , it currerently isn't running but dose spin freely
Clutch is very Firm and belived to be in great condition
interior is 100% original and in great condition dash has no cracks carpet is dry
Clean Title
No Accidents
No Bondo/Body filler
Baby Pink Slip
I highly encourage you too come out or send an inspector before bidding you will not be dissapointed

Seems to be my thing to find survivor cars.
I sometimes think they are better than restored cars. As they say "they are only original once"
240z are becoming to highly priced so logic would suggest the next generation will follow.
Yes it's got the ugly bumpers but that can be rectified. But the price was more than reasonable So why notl!!
I'm filling the interior with a few service items and some ROTA RB wheels etc and it'll be on its way in a week or so!

It's got some great potential.
In some areas she's cleaner than the 240.
The seller took the plugs out and put some WD40 down the bores and left for 2 days, just in case, then cranked it to check she wasn't locked up.
Brakes are functioning etc.
I'll give it a good going over when she's here. Check the water/oil pump etc. a good cut and polish and steam clean to get rid of the 29yrs of dirt.

It has some pin stripes from the 80's repaint and dealer fitted aluminium sill trims. Kinda cool features.
Air conditioning is neat. But won't work I'm guessing. And of course the typical "jelly bean" wheels.
She's a 5spd too and has round top carbs rather than the troublesome flats.

More pics as when she's at shipping!

The 240z I did the USA trip in is now complied!!
Went through no problems.
Couple of paint touch ups to happen and then rock and roll!!

Also the 260z is on NZ shores and I’ll pick it up next week.
She doesn’t run but after sitting in a garage since 1987 that’s to be expected.
When I get her in the workshop I’ll post an update.

To many Z’s....so little time!!
