Wanted: Datsun 240Z L24 Engine
Don't panic. Having the block re-sleeved is not too bad I had mine done 12 yrs ago and it is still holding up. It was around $80 per bore from memory.
You can always just replace the head if you can find aonther - trademe has them from time to time. If it is matching numbers engine, it is worrth the work. Another option is take it out and find a newer L28 to replace it with. I have done that in the last month.

Hi Merlin, thanks for your support...No, I don't want to discard the block as matching numbers are important with these cars. So I really only need a head at this stage. I've just started looking so maybe there is a Cedric or similar 2.4 engine sitting in a wreckers yard somewhere.
What head number is on your car ? Ill have a look at what i have. Also id be very surprised if you block needs to be sleeved. Generally speaking L blocks never need sleeving unless you are doing something extreme or are very pedantic and wish to keep the standard bore size.

Hi guys, thanks for getting involved for me. The head has NISSAN JAPAN E88 stamped on it. One other thing, when the block is out of the car I would like to paint it in the standard blue colour. Does anyone know what the paint code for that is so that I can get a rattle can made up. Many thanks.
If you still have the blue paint on the harmonic balancer or the alternator bracket I would take either one of the off and take it to an automotive paint shop and get them to colour match with an enamel paint I did that years ago and just used a brush to apply. You can't see any brush marks because the block is rough cast anyway

Many thanks for Baker93 for his offer of an E88 head. I bought a re-manufactured one off eBay before I got to see his post. For some reason his reply to my topic didn't go to my email. Please don't post up how it might all turn to custard for me as it has already been consigned to the freighter. I know it's a risk but the seller has good feedback and youtube videos.

so I just have to keep my fingers crossed. It was a case of a bird in the hand etc.....
Of course the mechanic phoned today and there's a problem with the clutch and there are other issues with the car. It was inevitable that it would be one of those think of a number then double it projects. I've taken the radiator to a specialist shop to have it examined/re-cored/painted or just cleaned out as the case may be. Wish me luck, boys........
I'm still looking for the correct blue/green paint code. I think the block was repainted some time ago and I'm not sure the existing blue is correct.
Clutch: Does anyone know what the correct part is? I researched this issue a lot when I had the gearbox reconditioned and thought I had it right, but no! I like a standard clutch not a heady duty race one. Hoping you can help.
