Overnight Weekend to Coromandel - 29-30 Apr

Post by nzeder » Sun Feb 19, 2006 9:04 pm

Date: 29-30 April - updated

This is a nostalgic trip to Coromandel the first formal Z Club activity 25 years ago. It wil be FUN!!! this I promise you. Will need to know numbers by the 20 April in order to hold Motel and Restaurant bookings. Full information will be poasted out to all Financial Members shortly.

Update:
The motel is booked!!! So is the Driving Creek Railway on Sunday! And the trial is being set up. There is going to be lots of fun and laughs and memories.
Please let me know, before the 20th April, if you will be joining us.
We will be meeting at a highway cafe for breakfast, so folk from the South wont have to come all the way to Auckland. Cherie will cook you a good breakfast, and will pack a picnic lunch if required.
More news later!!
Call Dee on 096365443 or 096364342 or 025532179.

Update #2:
Saturday 29 April:
8:30am Meet for breakfast at Petticoat Junction Highway Cafe. Lefthand side of highway 2, going southeast, half a kilometer Auckland side of the Thames-Coromandel turnoff.

10-10:30am Dale and Kelvin will send you off on a trail/country cruise. [operative word CRUISE] This WILL be fun!!!!

LUNCH will be at Rapaura Watergardens.
We have arranged a group lunch, and the proprieters will host us through the Gardens. After this Dale and Kelvin will have at you again!!!

We are booked into the Central Motel, which is where we stayed 25 years ago.
6:30-7:00pm Dinner and drinks at the Admirals Arms - within walking distance of the motel, so we can have a vino or two.

Sunday 30 April:
11:25am We are booked on the Driving Creek Railway. Plenty of time for breakfast first. This takes about an hour or so, and the scenery is spectactular.

Then a leisurely drive back to Kaiaua Fish and Chip shop for lunch.
Miranda Hot Springs is nearby for anyone who wants a soak or swim.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our bookings are looking good, but numbers could be limited in some instances so please call Dee before the 20th on the numbers listed above.

had a great time guys was really worth the effort, the drive from Coromandle to Whitianga was good fun and we all got home without misshaps although I now need a new top rad hose - lucky I have a good sense of smell and can pick antifreeze from a mile away, leading cause of death for 300zxs being a water leak then over heat (excluding power slides off the road).
Look forward to joining you all again for another event.

Can we get a volunteer to write an event report?

It will be useful for when we finally get the newsletter going :D as well as interesting for us sad folks that couldn't make it.

Howdy guys,

I was obligated to be in Auckland so missed out - would be keen to know how it went though......

Any stories or pictures for the forum?

Cheers
