HR intakes

Post by chrismx5 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 3:48 pm

Hey all,

Finally got around to mocking up in sketch up the two thoughts I have for the cold air intake..

Image

First intake (on the left) intends to go down, behind the bumper

Second intake (on the right) goes to where the existing panel filter is with a heat shield on the appropriate side.

Thoughts?

Merrr. I missed the garage tour >.<

Anyway, found a reliable source of steel and what not, going to mock these up this weekend, both the short ram, and the long cold air intake behind the bumper, the maf will be located in the same place as it is stock.

Should hopefully have something "real" to look at by Sunday Night!

So, I started with this.

Pretty stoked for $30 (plus the poddy -_-)

Turned it into this

And finished it like this ;D You can see I have welded a plate in for the MAF sensor, in the same location as the factory one.

Why Steel?

Simply, because I was more wondering if this was a feasible idea.
And steel was a cheap means of testing this out.

I should probably explain this all in a little bit more detail.
I originally set out to make a "pop charger" Similar to those made by JWT, and etc. And I did that, very easily.

I then went on to actually look into my own setup and how I want it to be (ideally) so the plan is, straight intercooler piping from the existing flexi pipe.
Maf in Factory Location.
1 Straight silicone joiner
1 mandrel bent 90 degree intercooler pipe
1 straight silicone joiner
1 straight intercooler pipe
1 90 deg bend silicone joiner attached to my pod filter adapter.
