Repair/ Replace soft top roof

Post by ZXY » Tue Jan 28, 2014 10:00 pm

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get a repair or replacement of a Z33 soft top roof? The tear I have is approx 5cm adjacent to the rear window on the R) hand side and I understand this is a notorious weak spot. I have come across a couple of repairers in Auckland who will just patch things up, but I'm dubious about the quality as no one seems to want to offer any guarantee. Someone quoted me 17K to import a new roof, but I'm sure there must be good quality second hand ones somewhere
Cheers

Hi ya, very notorious are the soft tops on the Z33. Price you've been quoted wouldn't be far off the mark from a dealer. You could try wreckers like Pick a Part, although anything Z33 just about walks out the door. Have been a number of Z33 tops replaced in the UK, mostly via dealers. Is yours and import or NZ new?

There was somebody over the shore doing soft tops. Years ago our office lady had hers replaced on a Peugeot 306. I can't for life of me remembered the name but they specialized in it. Try the MX5 guys.

You could also try these guys. Retro vehicle enhancements. http://www.rve.co.nz They do all the sorts of stuff.

Good things are worth waiting for, but great things happen at once.

I just called a friend who works in the automotive repair industry, he uses Grant's Upholstery, he's a bit more expensive than the Supertrim, but apparently he does a better job.

It's about $1650US for a NEW OEM roof cover and $400US to ship it internationally.
