New kid on the block

Post by HasMilk » Sun Nov 17, 2013 2:14 am

Hi everyone!

My name is Ben, I am a student in Nelson and have recently purchased my first project. It's a 1980 S130 and I plan to give her lots of TLC. Luckily I have friends with valuable knowledge and in the right jobs, which will really help as my income is a bit shy.

Plans for this car are to repair paint/panel, interior and tune engine. I would really like to swap the gearbox but will need the parts first ;) I know I will learn a bunch during this project and look forward to making some friends here :D

So that's Christos' old one? I sold him that replacement rear control arm. Glad to see it went to someone with eagerness to keep it on the road.

It's on super lows but not sure what shocks, also came with factory wheels which look 10x better than those 18s.

Nelson? That is actually quite close to me :D I was wandering around Nelson CBD today :P

Swap the Gearbox eh? You have an Auto then?

I have a manual ZX 5 speed box FS5W71B with good gears to a visual inspection but the bell cut and welded to put the starter different for a PO's custom conversion, the little detent balls and spring also went Ping into the corer of the shed somewhere. I'm going Ford V8 with Ford Gbox, so the Gbox is surplus for me, it came with the '79 280ZX project I have.

I'm due into Nelson the 5th Dec, so for a Crate/Slab of Waikato you can have it if you can find the right beer in Nelson.

The gears are good, so if you scrounge a cheap bell, shifter fork, detent balls & springs, plus shifter off one of the racers on here who munch gears and scrap the broken box then you can combine the two for a cheap Gbox.

Welcome to the club mate. Nice 280zx, they look so much better with fender mirrors.
