Some of the older members may remember this car and driver, still a member but haven’t been active in the club for some years but come from the Graham Collins era. Same vintage as Murray Fish, Paul Hansen, David Long, Hugh Pepper etc etc.
Has some history. First race was Taupo 1991. Has been out on Bay Park, Manfield, Telecom Motorfest at Hamilton, Puke of course and about nine Whenuapai Wings and Wheels. Has been on axle stands in the garage for some years due to a loose harmonic balancer causing a flogged keyway on the crank (and a divorce, but that’s another story).
As happens to a lot of us, I finally came to the conclusion that I won’t get back to racing, but while I had the car the dream stayed alive, hence the years in storage. Not sure how the regulations go now but complied with schedule K and/or T&C and has certificate of description.
Car runs a 2.8 motor, at time of storage had only 2 meetings on a complete rebuild which included headwork, high comp pistons currently running about 11:1, baffled sump, Kelford flat tappet fastroad cam, triple 45’s set up by Murray Johnson.
Still lots of room for development and handles well (It’s a 2+2!!) Has a half cage, adjustable lower arms, strut brace, adjustable lower sway bar and two sets of mags.
In summary a good club car. Most importantly it is on the restoration register so can go back on the road. It has the original black plates.
Really only needs the crank keyway rebuilt, wheel cylinders checked, new harmonic balancer and some race rubber, although depends on current regs, but would be a great project for a couple of guys over the winter.
Comes with all current documentation on mods, cam profiles, carb settings, wheel alignment and timing settings etc etc. Has race seat but comes with the original driver seat as well.
