Exhaust silencer/muffler for NA 280zx race car?

Post by Grunzter » Thu May 31, 2012 9:42 pm

Hi all,
Any and all advice welcome for a good performance silencer for my L6 race engine.
I want a 3" straight through silencer that could squeeze up around the drive shaft (kind of)...
Exhaust is to exit the car in front of the passangers rear wheel.
I may need two?

My headers have yet to be made but are 304SS, so would prefer the rest of the exhaust to be the same...

thanks.

My first thought is I've done this before but on a Vauxhall HC Viva with a Nissan 1500 xflow engine. Mine exited on drivers side and sounded wicked with window down. Good idea to put it on passenger side due to Db's. My next thought is straight though silencers don't do much silencing, they resonate. Mufflers muffle but rob power. Theres lots of brands of resonators also called Hotdogs or Coby which work well and fit into tight spaces. You can use a long and a short combination. Good exhaust shops will help.

All Nissans are racecars.

Wolf mufflers in mt Eden are a good crowd to consult

Al's Mufflers in Wairau valley also do a lot of race cars.
