Burnt Orange colour match - Leather replacement

Post by Nic » Fri Jun 05, 2020 2:33 pm

Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations on where I can source Burnt Orange coloured leather...or vinyl. I'm looking to replace one of the side panels on my 350Z driver seat. Has anyone had experience with this and getting a colour match?

I have approached a local upholsterer (I'm Taranaki based) who says he can match vinyl, and with leather he would likely I would likely need to purchase the whole pelt.

Thanks! Nic

Surely the supplier of the pelt can send you a photo, so you can see how good the match is? Presuming you're doing both seats?

Thanks - I'm looking just to replace one side panel in the drivers seat, and leave the remainder of the seat and passenger seat in tact (and then restore the leather). The upholsterer said he could get a match but would need the Z for a few days, which doesn't work for me.

Personally I doubt that you will be able to match it, the best way forward is to match the grain or texture and then get it painted once stiched together. There are guys who specialise in this and if done correctly will stand the test of time.
