DOT approved track tyres

Post by XS9909 » Fri Mar 02, 2007 8:02 pm

Hey guys, it was reccomended that I ask around on this forum about tyres. For the next Taupo meet I would like to seriously look at getting some good tyres, most likely semi-slicks. Now, I have been doing some research into this, and have come up with a few ideas.
I would like to get something in the following sizes; 225/45 R17 or 235/45 R17
The tyres I have come up with are:
1.Michelin pilot sports cup competition radials
2.Yokohama A048's
3.Hankook Z212 RS2's
Im sure there are more that I havent looked at yet. So, is there anyone with the experience who could recommed anything to me?

Cheers

Thomas

Hi there, I have the Yokies as 225-15's on my Zed. They are brilliant in the dry and have great traction when warmed up. Buy some wet weather tyres tho as alternatives as I have come unstuck in the wet fairly easily. I have only had road tyres on the car before so cant comment on the other semi-slicks you are considering.
