If you thought the 2020 Concours show was great, 2021 will be amazing! There will be a full weekend of Classic Car activities, culminating in the Intermarque Concours d 'Elegance on the Sunday with some incredibly rare and exceptionally beautiful metal.

* Sunday 14th February we return to Ellerslie for a whole day of events, including the 50th Intermarque Concours d'Elegance.

2021 will be the biggest classic car event ever with more clubs, more cars, more commercial exhibits and expect record crowds. 2020 had over 80 car clubs on display, 2021 promises to be more. So make the New Zealand Classic Car Weekend 2021 a priority event- as there are always some extra special cars there!

(Non-competitors please enter via the trailer gates once they are open).

Make sure those Zeds are extra thoroughly clean, spick & span & shiny, and lets put on an excellent display. Remember this is our opportunity to promote our club, & find new club members & have an awesome day!

Please note, we only have extremely limited numbers of cars permitted on our display, so it's by invitation to display for this particular show.

You might also be really interested to note there are new categories this year to appeal to younger owners as well! :D 8)

To that end Concours are organising far greater awareness raising and publicity of the 50th event and will be extending the opportunities for greater participation by existing member clubs such as ours and also to a wider range of younger classic, restored and modified car owners as well.

For the first time at the 50th Anniversary show, there will be a couple of exciting new displays: "Barn finds" and "50/50/50"

Barn Finds are for just that - vehicles that have been discovered in dirty, dusty form, having been in storage for years and have just seen the light of day. You often see them on trailers in the weekend and think "ooh, I wonder where they found that" or "I wish I'd discovered that". Well bring them straight to the Ellerslie Classic Car show next February before you remove that beautiful barn find dirt!

50/50/50 will be a judged concours competition for those younger members who probably have not carried out total restorations on their classic. Both owner and car need to be under 50 years old and including purchase must have cost less than $50,000 to prepare their car for the event.

We've got some seriously amazing modified Zeds in the club, so this is really our chance to really impress, not to mention the stunning fairly stock Zeds too. And we definitely have barn type finds. This 2021 show is going to be interesting!

Email from the Concours committee, Niceeee prize! Worth getting that Zed mega, mega clean! This would work so well for so many of our cars!

"The main reason for me contacting you is to make sure we have been clear about the new 50-50-50 competition. This is brand new for 2021 and is targeting just the kind of younger people who own newer models and so I am hoping that apart from displaying your cars as part of your Club outing this year, you might also promote the 50-50-50 competition to your members. If you’ve not seen details of this event, please click on the link below.
https://www.concours.org.nz/beforeon-th ... -show.html

The basic criteria for the competition are that entrants must be under 50 years old, so must their car and they should have spent no more than $50k on their car. The judging also reflects the more entry level of this competition and so no points are being deducted for modified cars and no inspection of the underside will be done. The main areas that need to be spotlessly clean are engine bay, interior, exterior (top side only) wheels and boot. If you go to the Rules for the day you can see the actual judging sheets we’ve designed to make everything as clear for entrants as possible. https://www.concours.org.nz/about-the-show--rules.html

We have also removed the date limit for entry because we would like to see more cars entered in this first 50-50-50. We have a few entries, but would like a lot more, so please pass this message on to your fellow members as well as anyone else who might fit the criteria for the event.

There are three $950 detailing packages from OCD on offer for the top three places in the competition, so well worth getting out the cleaning gear and getting stuck in!"

My thanks to all those who attended, we had great weather and lots of people showing interest. I love these events as they are a great promotion for our club. The Zeds certainly attracted a lot of interest.
We also had Sky TV come past and did a little chat with myself and Dave about our cars, I have no idea what program and when it may be aired but will endeavor to find out.
Again a big hand for those that made the effort to clean and present their cars, especially the Hamiltonians, and also had a car from Wellington.
