280zx and cracked radiators

Post by andy120 » Sat Mar 03, 2018 10:39 am

Has anyone else had problems with cracked radiators? I suspect there's too much chassis flexing going on stress loading the radiator. If that's the case, has anyone converted to a rubber mounted modern like radiator.

I've rubber mounted the Skyline radiator I'm using, but not because I was having problems with them cracking. Is it a road car?

Ive rubber mounted an alloy S13 radiator into mine. Its a tight fit with maybe 5mm spare room in total side to side. Custom made a bracket for the bottom out of aluminium channel with some rubber grommets that i found lying round in the shed.

To mount the top i simply used some R32 radiator mounts i got from a wrecker.

You will need a new radiator hose to the top tank as the stock one is too short, from memory one from a 78 Hilux does the job, but just go to repco and see what they have that is slightly longer than the stock one.

Hope this helps.

Standard radiator hoses? Not the ones with metal springs in them?
