Wheel identification, possible 432?

Post by Kelvin » Tue Feb 23, 2016 8:13 pm

I have some wheels that came with my 280z, I believe they are off the previous owners 240z but other than that I don't have any info on them.

They are a four spoke design just like the 432 and from what I can work out they are magnesium, I cleaned and scrapped a small piece off the back of one of the rims where it was corroded and put it to a flame to test and it burnt bright white.

Each wheel has a different number stamped into the face of it, for example RMW-9L578

I will add photo's as soon as I have clearance.

Will try adding a link for now but unsure if it will work.

Any help or pointers will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Kelvin.

Unless they used a generic wheel there is no way a set of genuine wheels would turn up in NZ.

Seems the genuine ones have all eight sections cut out, while yours have only four cutouts.

Thanks guys, I do find it odd though as all the other ones I've found have centre caps and don't have the centre of the spoke's cut out

This image from Zhome seems to support that. My Datsun collector guide image of the wheels is too dark to tell.

Rally cars also used wheels like that - more plausible to be off a rally Datsun at some stage...........?

Thank you Mike I hadn't seen that, good to see the numbers quoted in that thread line up with what is stamped on my wheels.

The link to Mr.Watanabe's research of numbering of Z432 wheels appears to be dead now which is a shame as this could of shed some more light on these wheels.

I'm heading back to Japan for 3 weeks shortly so I think Ill print out a few good photo's to take into shops with me to see if they can help with identifying them
