Post by Karljsw » Sun Aug 23, 2015 7:53 pm

Hi guys,

Is anyone running an alloy drop tank/ fuel cell in there 240 - 280z?

Basically after pics and info on how you have mounted them as I'm unable to run a stock tank in my car

Cheers
Karl

Go to reputable race parts shop Ie Cardwells and look at the plastic fuel cells that are available. Have a sheet metal or alloy box to contain the cell made cut a big square hole in the back of ya car reinforce around the edges out as far as the chassis rails with some light box section and drop the box in. Can be welded or glued in place. If your around Auckland at any time feel free to give me a call and you can check out mine.

Cheers for the replies.

Have spoken to another certifier after the first one was very vague. Have now come up with a design for a cage for my cell, will update with photos when its done.

Next question:

Anyone know where to get some stainless steel 3/8 fuel line from in New Zealand? Wanting to run hard-line from Fuel Pump to Fuel Reg but having no luck on the google.
I assume Hydraulink would sell some and ill call them later but any other ideas

Thanks

i will ask R & D Motorsport for you tomorrow. They specialise in turning cars into race cars. roll cages etc etc. so if they dont know then good luck. or feel free to ring em and tell Richard that Chris with the 350Z sent you his way.

I got my 3/8ths S/S line from Sandvik metals in Te Rakua drive Pakuranga. Ask for instrument tube. They sell it by the metre and I got 4 meters worth. It looks really good and has a mirror finish.
I you need small amounts 100-200mm long I have some left over and will most likely not use it. PM me if you are interested in it

Cheers for the reply's guys.

I want to avoid Alloy hard line as have been advised against using it by friends and reading on-line reviews of alloy hard line don't really fill me with confidence.

Will ring the metal suppliers tomorrow and see what they recommend and charge :)
