Post by badhabit » Mon Nov 26, 2012 3:36 pm

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 237113.htm

Up for sale is a 1972 Datsun 240z (auto) with 44000 original miles showing!!
Received the car from the original owner.
Car was last registered in 1979 in TEXAS (32 years!) and has been stored in garage ever since.
Everything is original: full interior, body and L24 engine.
Interior:
All complete, all gauges work, radio still works and power antenna, tiny spot of rust in area under mats.
Has original 240Z rubber floor mats too. Dash has single tiny crack.
Has factory fitted air conditioning! All components there.

etc etc

At the Southwards show at the weekend I was talking to Steve Curle from Mainfreight - he runs the car shipping business from the States for them and arranged the shipping for both my Roadster and the S30 280Z that I imported a few years back.
His comment was that the price of 240Zs in the States is starting to rise and that a number of LHD ones have been shipped in to Christchurch lately. Wonder where they are hiding?

I think your price is great and I doubt you would be able to land one here any cheaper. At least with yours it can be inspected before purchase.

I have imported the 2 cars steve is talking about , 1 - 73 240z out of nevada and the other was a 74 - 260z out of California . Also lots of parts . The 260 is going to be a race car and am gathering up the parts now , whilst the 240z is going to have an rb25det and 5 speed fitted . The z's in the states are increasing in value and i have now seen 3 of them over $30k US , but all major restos and rebuilds . Hard to get a good driver under $6k US that is compliable without great expense in repairs first . The 72 currently for sale ex Texas is a good buy . Remember about 85% of 240z's went to the states so the majority made were LHD , so dont be put off by that . Lots of parts available ex The states and KIWI shipping run a great service for cars or parts .

Why would you even think or say that?

I find that statement in your listing very offensive

Take it easy mate , i think it is just a bit of humor on his part. We have all been in the situation where were are trying to sell a car and all you get is people low balling you , its not fun.
