Waiuku Flying Fifty - Saturday 24 November 2007

Post by Andy » Sun Aug 26, 2007 1:39 pm

I have had my vehicle preliminarily accepted in a classification to be known as "240Z Classic". As this is a Marque based event it would be good to get a few other street racers with Zeds in there as well, any takers? I have not registered yet but will be doing so and it would be good to have some Zed company! Slip the organiser an email, he seems prepared to accept a few pre '79 Jappers in amongst the Euros. $150 per entry.

2007 CONCOURSO EURO

As part of the Waiuku Heritage festival this year, The Concorso Euro/Waiuku Flying 50 takes place over the weekend of the 23rd/24th, &25th of November, with a fresh new format, and A NEW STREET EVENT concept for 2007.

Circulating the Surrounds of Massey Park in Central Waiuku, plans for a Heritage Festival week are well underway that include for the first time a novel Classic Car Pursuit, a Classic Motor Scooter Relay, Classic Car tours, and Concourso Euro Exhibition.

During a full week that includes the Waiuku art & Heritage festival, Aphitu peninsular Tours, Manukau Heads Ferry tours, Vintage tractor/truck/car displays, Pyrotechnic display, Karioitahi Beach Helicopter Tours and exhibitors stands, plus the Glenbrook Vintage railway Steam Train Tours, Food & Wine Festival, Antique Fair and Concourso Euro, the Waiuku Flying 50 promises to be the major drawcard for classic car buffs.

In the Format of Olympic Cycling, The Classic Car teams will start with cars at equidistant points on the street circuit, and attempt to post the fastest time in a pursuit that puts them against the clock and each other that will result in the fastest two marques competing in a winners knockout at the end of the day. Vespas and Lambrettas will also do battle in a classic motor scooter relay that adds to the spectacle in a rarely seen motorsport. Spectators will get a superb view of the action from the grounds of Massey park as the vehicles circle, and can take advantage of the stalls and displays of Vintage machinery operating within the grounds, and in the evening take advantage of restaurant dining, pyrotechnic display and band entertainment to round off a thrilling days event.

No car has just had the full cage finished, screen and dash not back in, I'm tidying and upgrading the dash wiring, lighting and demist system so no Waiuku, would have been good fun, mostly Euro wagons tho.
