Request from the NZ Fiat 124 Spider Club

Post by bernjean » Wed Aug 03, 2016 12:56 pm

If you know of anybody with Fiat 124's could you please pass this on.

Fiat 124 Spider 50â￾° Anniversary

I am a Member of the Canterbury Fiat-Lancia Club and an Event Co-ordinator for a national convention of Fiat 124 Sport Spider and Spider 2000 owners, to be held in Christchurch, this November 11th – 13th, to mark the 50th Anniversary debut of the Fiat 124 Sport Spider in Italy, back in November 1966.

We are conducting a nationwide search for owners of Fiat 124 Sport Spiders and Sport Coupes, to let them know about the convention and encourage them to join fellow fiatista for the celebrations, which includes a special display at an all-Italian car show and two rallies over the three day event.

All variants of the Fiat 124 Sport Spider, Spider 2000 or Fiat 124 Sport Coupe are invited to attend, no matter the series, rating, spec level, left or right hand drive: whether the example be Concours, mobile restoration, survivor, daily driver, in race or Abarth trim, the convention is to celebrate these outstanding Italian roadsters and Coupes in all of their manifestations, not their individual condition.
“But this is for a Fiat event, our Club caters for …â€￾

You may be wondering just why we are calling on your particular membership. We are conducting our search on the premise that classic car owners always know other classic car owners, who may just possess a Fiat 124 Spider or Coupe.

We would be very grateful if you could forward this e-mail and the attached Event Invitation to your membership.

If you have any further enquiries, please don’t hesitate to e-mail.

Kind regards,

Tony Olsen, Event Co-ordinator

Invite.

Fellow Fiat 124 Spider and Coupe owners,

2016 marks the 50th Anniversary of the original Fiat 124 Sport Spider, which debuted at the November 1966 Turin Auto Show, in Italy.

2016 also heralds the New Zealand market launch of the new Fiat 124 Spider, which debuted at the November 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, in the United States.

Fiat 124 Spider enthusiasts around the world are commemorating the Anniversary and various territory launches with numerous static displays and road runs. The collective celebration represents a unique opportunity for Kiwi owners to also mark the occasion here in New Zealand.

Fiat 124 Spider 50â￾° Anniversario is a national golden anniversary convention of Fiat 124 Spider and Spider 2000 owners, to be held in Christchurch, November 11-13th, 2016, a Canterbury provincial holiday (Show Week) that is precisely fifty years after the November 1966 Salon debut of our favoured bella machina.

In a recent development, Fiat 124 enthusiasts have requested that their sister Fiat 124 Coupes also be able to participate in the convention.

It is now intended that the convention celebrations will be the most Southern gathering of Fiat 124 Spiders and Coupes in the world and certainly the largest ever gathered together in New Zealand.

INVITATION TO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST
As a Fiat 124 Sport Spider, Spider 2000 or Fiat 124 Sport Coupe owner, you are invited to register your interest in this event (to date, some twenty-five Spiders and seven Coupes have registered interest and numbers are growing).

All variants of the Fiat 124 Sport Spider, Spider 2000 or Fiat 124 Sport Coupe are invited to attend, no matter the series, rating, spec level, left or right hand drive: whether your example be Concours, mobile restoration, survivor, daily driver, in race trim or Abarth, the event is to celebrate these outstanding Italian roadsters and Coupes in all of their manifestations, not their individual condition.

Don’t miss your chance to meet with like-minded fiatista who share your appreciation of these classic Pininfarina/Fiat designs and your passion for the open road – Italian style. You can register now with a brief expression of interest and we’ll forward the latest update of convention news, plans and related matters.

If you know of other Fiat 124 Sport Spider, Spider 2000 or Fiat 124 Sport Coupe owners who might appreciate the chance to register their interest in this event, please forward this invitation on – be sure to CC in the e-mail address below, so we can follow-up at a later date. All other comments and enquiries are very welcome. We look forward to hearing from you.
