The Sound MG Classic Race Meet 13-15 Nov 2015

Post by Z Club » Sat Sep 12, 2015 6:28 pm

Website: www.mgcarclub.org.nz
What: The Sound MG Classic Race Meeting
Duration: The Biggest 3 Day Meeting Ever
When: Friday 13th to Sunday 15th November 2015, Manfeild Circuit

Greetings to all past and intending new drivers to the 30th continuous running of the MG Classic Race Meeting.
This first newsletter is a bit late as we wanted to make sure all of our ducks were in the correct row. The biggest
problem was getting Flag marshals on the Friday; We still require a few more, so if anyone would like the best seat in
the house on Friday afternoon, please contact Ron Robertson.
This is going to be a huge event with several new groups coming on board. New and exciting cars from the South
Island are coming over the ditch for the first time.
Applications to enter and the associated Regulations governing the meeting are enclosed but additional copies will also
be available on the MG website http://www.mgcarclub.org.nz/.
As a large entry is expected, and the grid capacity is limited. intending competitors are encouraged to submit entries
as soon as possible to avoid possible disappointment. The feature race for Saloons will be the Sybil Lupp Memorial
Invitation race for British sports and saloon cars. The presentation of the cars running in the T&C Classic time groups
only gets better each year, with more cars coming along with more trim fitted. Really good to see.
The classic sports and saloon grids will be defined as close as possible with Appendix 6 of the Motorsport Manual
Appendix 6, Schedule T&C. Vehicles entered under Schedule T&C will be asked to present current Certificates of
Description at documentation. The other groups, including the “Alternative” group, will run according to their own
specific rules and regulations.
A relativity new group to the North
Island is the HISTORIC TOURING
CARS this is a great class in the South
Island. Sponsored by Silvester Clark
Engineering being made up of
Genuine Group A cars. These are
cars with great history and famous
drivers and include some ex
Wellington Street Race cars. Mixed
with the North Island cars this will be a
group to follow. They will be
putting on a great display in
the main Stadium Car Park.
The Historic Sports Sedans
are a group of the older cars
that are forming to preserve
the heritage of cars like the
Custaxie, the Wayne
Huxford Capri, Tony
Boyden’s Red Camaro, the
Sprague Zephyr and many
more.
The Pre65 Racing Saloons are back again with a good field of cars. Always good to watch because of the difference in the style and make of cars. Sometimes the smallest is the fastest if in the right hands. With new cars being built all the time this is one to watch.
The Formula 5000s will be back after a whirlwind season in the USA. There is nothing better than a gaggle of F5000s at full song.
It will be great to see the Central Muscle Cars, and the Castrol BMW Race Series all out racing to their hearts content.
We are trying to promote the older cars and have asked the VCC to form a group of period cars. Many of the older cars have not been out recently; one of the reasons is the speed difference and the increasing value of some of our finer Marque cars. If you have an interest in running in this group please let us know.
THERE WILL BE FREE ENTRY TO ALL LADY DRIVERS and MG CARS ENTERED.
There will also be draws where you can win some interesting prizes.
Ferry Tickets: We have 2 Ferry tickets to give away and some cheaper deals on Interislander travel. For more information on some really good prices, please email ron@mgcarclub.org.nz for the details and code.
Testing: The Friday morning testing will be run by the MG Car Club and will be open only to vehicles entered for this event. This gives more time to each group in a controlled way. Testing on Friday will start at 9am till 11.59am.
Be there early to get the most out of a free testing.
Official Practice will commence at 12.01pm on Friday 13th for all Competitors. Time brackets will be published.
The Saturday night dinner has fewer drivers each year, but we will continue to do something for the volunteers and drivers that are interested.
Last year we held an informal BYO SPIT ROAST DINNER at the Manawatu Car Club rooms. This was the most successful of recent times with more food than could be eaten. The flag and crash had enough for breakfast. We need to have some input from you the drivers; any suggestions are welcome, as long as they do not involve sharp objects. Remember this is the 30th running of this great event.
We hope to see you all in November. Till then keep motoring - Safety Fast.
Any comments or suggestions to ron@mgcarclub.org.nz or paul@netclinic.co.nz.
Join us to celebrate 30 years of MG Classic Racing at Manfield.
