Track day Sat 2 October - Taupo track 2

Post by more_fasterer » Thu Sep 02, 2010 10:32 pm

Hi All, the NZ Primera Car Club is hosting a track day at Taupo on saturday 2nd October, and we'd very much like to see the Z Club represented.
The track day is being run as part of our annual national meet, and as such there will be a 1.5 hour period during lunchtime where the Primeras are off the track, as we hold our show & shine. Fortunately, the track will be open during this time.
We'll also be doing a Time Attack session in the afternoon, purely for fun.

Entry is $100, please make your payment to:
Name.............NZ Primera Car Club
Bank.............Westpac
Branch.........Karangahape Road
Account.......03 0175 0253579 00
With a suitable reference - e.g. "more fasterer trackday"

Timetable for the day
8:00: Pits open
8:30 - 9:10: Scrutineering
9:15: Driver's briefing
9:30: First group on track, 15min sessions
12:00: Show & Shine for club members behind pits. Track will remain open during this time
1:30: Time Attack begins
3:30: (approx) Time Attack ends, track is open
4:30: Track closes
5:00: Pits close

Time Attack:
Each track day entrant will be given the opportunity to have a clear-track timed lap in the afternoon. There will be no prizes, other than bragging rights. You will get 4 laps in total, so you will be crossing the finish line a total of 3 times:
1 out-lap (exit pits)
2 warm-up lap
3 hot lap
4 in-lap (enter pits)
There will be 3 cars on the track at the same time, at various points in the above cycle. We will endeavour to keep the cars on their out / warm-up / in laps out of the way of the cars doing their hot lap.

Entry requirements
You will need to wear:
- Helmet with standards label - e.g. A/NZ, DOT, Snell, ACU etc.
- Overalls
- Enclosed footwear

Your car will need:
- Current WOF or MSNZ logbook
- A secure battery
- A 1kg or greater fire extinguisher mounted within reach of the driver
- No fluid leaks
- Brakes that will handle the abuse!

On-track behaviour:
Remember, this is a track day, not a race day. Aggressive driving behaviour such as last-second braking up the inside will not be tolerated; remember to give each other space and don't do anything that would piss off your fellow track users.
Similarly, it is not a drift day. Power oversteer is acceptable, kicking the back out the whole way through a corner is not.
If it's your first time on track, take your time getting to learn the track. Also, feel free to ask those with track experience for some tips and guidance - they will be able to ride around with you, or vice-versa.

More info is available on our website, www.primeracarclub.co.nz. We hope to see you there!
