The Bruce McLaren Festival
Promoted by the Historic Racing Club Inc
On the last two weekends in January 2010 one of New Zealand’s true legends, Bruce McLaren, will be honoured over two race meetings, one at Hampton Downs on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th and the other at Pukekohe on the 29th, 30rd and 31st. These meetings will include cars which Bruce drove, raced against, constructed or were current when he was driving.
Because of the criteria applied to classes for the Bruce McLaren Festival meetings many of our regular competitors and classes are not eligible to run at these two meetings. To overcome this we are going to run our Tasman Revival meetings at Hampton Downs on the 15th, 16th and 17th of January and at Taupo on the 5th, 6th and 7th of February for other classes. Some of you may have the opportunity of competing in all 4 meetings some will only be spectators for two of them. Jim Barclay has been busy emailing overseas competitors for the last five months and over 120 competitors have indicated they will come. Entry for the Tasman Grand Prix Meeting 15th 16th 17th January and the Taupo meeting 5th 6th 7th February will be posted on the website shortly
In addition to the above meetings the HRC will hold the Icebreaker at Hampton Downs on the 19th and 20th of September 2009 and the Legends of Speed meeting on the 20th and 21st of March 2010. TV coverage is currently being organised and your series coordinators will be contacted regarding this shortly.

It is timely to remind those without timing Transponders that all timing for the above events will be by AMB Transponders. If you don’t already have one of these, they can be purchased from the Historic Racing Club for $730.00 inc. GST and Freight.
