Icebreaker Meeting Pukekohe

Historic Racing Club Inc News

Yes itʼs the Icebreaker Meeting again, September 13th and 14th. Not long if you are preparing a car for racing!
Classes racing this year will be AES/TradeZone, ALFA Trofeo, Arrow Wheels Sports & GT, BMW Open, BMW E30, Super Historics, Historics, Muscle Car Road Race Series, Tracer Salons, 2Lt Sports Cars and the ever popular Classic Trial.
Entries continue to flood in with the BMW E30 race almost having a full grid, other grids continue to fill as more cars are dusted of and entry forms are filled out. 5 weeks from the meeting we are more than happy with entries. We will "over flow" excess E30 entries into the open class. If the open class then reaches maximum then extra E30 races will be run.
The class of Super Historic has been added to the Programme to replace Formula Libre, Super Historic gives a Wings and Slicks Formula for the growing number of Formula Pacific / Atlantic Cars and others of that ilk to get the regular exercise they need. We hope these grids will continue to grow as the F5000 ones have. F5000 cars can enter The Super Historic class for this meeting.
Speaking of F5000ʼs it was great to see 5 Kiwi F5000ʼs at the June 28 th Historic meeting at Brands Hatch, Stan Redmond and Sefton Gibb performed extremely well with a 2 nd and 3 rd respectively. The ever popular F5000ʼs will be back for the Tasman Revival Meetings in January and February 2009. The McLaren Festival for 2010 is going to be a great event with a large number of overseas car owners indicating they will be here
Transponder orders have also been coming in at a steady rate and we are well on the way to completing the order for the first 100. With recent movements in the exchange rate the price of only $580.00 inc. is starting to look a little marginal. My advice if you are thinking of ordering one of these essential items is to get in now before we have to increase the price.

To enter go to www.motorsportentry.com. If you are unable to enter on line this can be accomplished manually. However, there is a $15.00 surcharge for manual processing.
Timing Equipment
The feedback we received from an earlier newsletter on the need for drivers to purchase AMB Transponders has been overwhelmingly positive. HRC has been in discussion with the manufacturer to get a bulk purchase price and has finalised A$400 (NZ$580 inc GST at todayʼs exchange rates) to buy a hard wired transponder. This is a considerable saving on the manufactures recommended retail price of A$480.00. The HRC will purchase the control box, software and circuit wiring and is planning for testing the new system at the Icebreaker meeting. The Transponders will be purchased in batches of 100 though the Historic Racing Club, PO Box 28 140 Remuera, Auckland.
Please make $580 cheque payable to HRC for your Transponder order. The cheques will be held until sufficient orders have been received and the transponders will be purchased. Orders need to be placed as soon as possible to avoid increases in the price and to be ready for the summer season when all timing will be by Transponders.
The transponders are permanently wired into the car, so there is no charging overnight and means a foolproof system on race day. The HRC entry forms will soon have a position for you to enter your Transponders ID number.
Your unique AMB Transponder number can then be utilised by every race meeting timekeeper. The AMB system is now the official Motorsport New Zealand approved timing system at every circuit in New Zealand.
