280zx 2+2 in Christchurch

Post by edynz » Wed Nov 10, 2021 7:59 am

Been checking in on the forums now and then this year but went quiet on the car buying front as we were relocating from Wellington to the mainland, South Canterbury.

With a garage, a lil extra time and some finances freed up I just might have found my first Z car. :D

Located in Christchurch

https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars ... f=K3zR4q1J

I have asked for some more photos, chassis and engine bay.
It needs quite a bit of work but I have watched enough videos to feel comfortable to try tackling majority of it myself.

Goals
  • restore to the level of a reliable every day car
  • add some 'tasteful' integrated bumper front and back body kits
  • love the L series engines, enhance it, triple carbs maybe
  • learn as much as possible, panel, electrical, body/paint

Appreciate any recommendations or comments other members have.

Down the track
  • Keen to know if members do group buying of parts if that makes shipping any cheaper.
  • Will start a new post in the build section if i win the bid.

Good luck with the bidding.
I am an S30 owner myself so can't really advise on specific things to watch for on an S31.
Hopefully S31 owners will respond.

Hi all,
No, i decided not to bid in the end.
Two reasons.
- photos of the underbody didn't look too great
- main reason, am buying a 2 seater 280zx in Christchurch. Hopefully it all works out.
Viewing it this weekend or early next week, and if it passes the sanity checks, no major issues i'll drive it home. :D

It is significantly more expensive but will be drive able (WOF and Reg)
Have seen plenty of 2+2's since i started looking but no 2's they might be a little bit more special?

Cheers!

Great to see getting into the Z scene. I have always felt that the 2 seater 280s look heaps better than the 4 seaters. keep us updated with your build.

Bernie !
You can't say things like that !
.
The Club will have to pay for counselling for the 280 2+2 owners..
