It all depends on what you want from the resto Stripping it right back will expose any flaws and rust spots that paint, bog and underseal hide. Do it once and do it right. If you are going to keep the car for a very long time, bead/dry ice/soda blast the whole shell but if you are going to flick it ...

Sorry to hear of your news Sheryl. I will always remember Brian's enthusiasm of the S30 and he was a big help for me when I was restoring my car. Will always remember the 1st time I meet him in the Manukau Turners auction building after cleaning up the awards at the club concourse in 2002. I can tha...

When my 240z was less than a bare shell I made up a frame with castors and bolted it in place on the front cross member mounts and the rear moustache bar for the diff mounts. It work vey well for a few years until I needed to put the car back together. Even as a shell the thing was surprisingly heav...

I know mine is WAY under insured so it will be good to get an idea of what they are worth. Tampered with but clean 240z like mine are not as worth as much as a concourse car thou

Maybe you should feel partly compensated by way of a lesson/experience IE When it comes to customer service, NZ ranks as one of the worst in the world.

I unplugged the cable and turned the pinion 180 degrees (so slot is at the top) and bingo the inner cable drive shaft (pinion assembly) turns when I turn the wheels with the car jacked up so I am getting drive to the cable via the Gbox. The cable is turning the odometer with a drill but when I conne...

Thanks for the tips Andy. My gauge speedo works and the pinion does not appear to be worn. I have just read that the pinion is offset to the end on the cable (I assume that is so you can have a range of ratios) and you may have to rotate it to engage the worm gear inside the box. I may have to file ...

If you still have the blue paint on the harmonic balancer or the alternator bracket I would take either one of the off and take it to an automotive paint shop and get them to colour match with an enamel paint I did that years ago and just used a brush to apply. You can't see any brush marks because ...

Don't panic. Having the block re-sleeved is not too bad I had mine done 12 yrs ago and it is still holding up. It was around $80 per bore from memory. You can always just replace the head if you can find aonther - trademe has them from time to time. If it is matching numbers engine, it is worrth the...

R180 diffs

I was wondering if anyone out there knows if the R180 LSD diff from a WRX Impreza is the same as the R180 from the 240/260z cars? and can they be retro fitted to the 240z.?
