Re: DJ's 280ZX

So the VQ35 that I bought came with a pretty much brand new set of ID1000 injectors in it, which are bigger and newer than the ones I have in this currently. They are 14mm top o ring so don't fit in the existing fuel rail, so I made a new one. Can't put them in until my new plugs show up which is pr...

yeah i herd it was a good idea so thought i'd give it a go
The guys at work do it, it's extremely time consuming and to do a full loom takes days of planning. Looks cool when it's done though.

350Z bits for sale

I bought a 350Z engine and gearbox only for the gearbox so I've got the engine + performance bits that were attached to it for sale. The engine is apparently a little smokey, it had some oil sitting in the plenum. It's missing the throttle body. It has no loom, throttle body, alternator, injectors o...

Re: DJ's other other 280ZX

Here's the box, it's pretty big & heavy. I think I got a pretty good deal, the VQ35 ended up coming with an almost brand new set of ID1000 injectors, a Honeywell oil pressure sensor, Mocal oil filter sandwich plate, plenum spacer, sump spacer, aftermarket knock sensor and an almost new bigger E ...

Nah, the CD00A is actually the best/newest one. This is a CD001, it does have a dicky 5th gear synchro but by the time I sell the VQ35 and all the bits that it came with the gearbox will owe me about $400 - 500.

Re: DJ's other other 280ZX

I've been kind of looking for a gearbox for this for a while and just bought a complete VQ35DE and 6 speed box out of a 350Z, off to Queenstown with James this weekend to collect it. The gearbox has a dicky synchro which is pretty common, parts aren't too expensive for them, but if I can sell the en...

Re: DJ's other 280ZX

I should have looked at the exhaust manifold before I put the engine in, it didn't have down pipe on it when I took it out of the donor car, turns one of the studs was stripped. I bought another L20E for the dizzy and a couple of other bits, I was hoping the exhaust manifold was going to be good but...

Re: DJ's other 280ZX

Got one of the few parts remaining on this, some genuine Nissan rubber radius rod bushes. The bush kit that I bought came with some but they were basically solid plastic and I didn't want to use them, these should last another 10 or 20 years.

Re: DJ's 280ZX

Not sure if I mentioned but one of the issues with the clutch was the stopper was gone which I hadn't realised, so I borrowed one from the VK car, but I've bought a bunch of new ones nows. Also got some new wiper nut covers.

Re: DJ's 280ZX

Took this for a test drive a couple of weekends ago, all went well apart from I've done something to the speedo so I need to sort that out. Haven't done too much else, I've been working heaps, we had our car out at Skope doing demo laps with Greg Murphy driving, managed to unofficially break the lap...

Diff mount looks good, are you using a crush tube in it? I've always wanted to make something similar for mine.

Re: DJ's 280ZX

Haven't done much on this since before Christmas, I'm going to take it for a drive tomorrow so I thought I'd better finish up the wiring that I'd started and make sure it still went. Got it 99% there, just need to run a new wire for the speedo output from the gearbox which I can't do with the car in...

Re: DJ's other 280ZX

Nice to see a 280 getting back on its feet. Glad you removed the edging strip along the length of the car, looks much better without it. ...Nice Lambo! Yeah they were one of the 80s things that people thought looked good back in the day. It's got pin striping on it too but I think I'm going to leav...
