I've been away from home again this last week so I organized to have the car sorted out by a panel beater just up the road from the compliance center, sounds like I am out of pocket by about $1200 but the car should now comply & be road legal again sometime Monday. I asked the panel beater to so...

It does seem to be heading that way! New brake components require a declaration certificate stating the components are suitable for the car etc, even older components are checked & if the numbers are readable you have to replace them with new items. Stupid thing is the car could have factory pad...

Yeah I think the car should have a higher resale value considering it will have gone through the system & have a fresh clean bill of health unlike most of the others on the market that could be an unknown quantity. Mind you the $$$$$ are adding up, might end up keeping it at this rate. She is fa...

Had it's compliance check done The inevitable list of action required isn't all that bad I guess Have started the process of getting a repair cert, needs to go on a chassis machine to ensure it is straight - OTT IMO but you have to do what the man says or no cert - no rego etc  Needs about $50...

Actually I do recall thinking to myself while attacking the bonnet "Immy would be saying CAREFUL GLENN, NOT MUCH PAINT ON THERE!!" I'm sure I put a lot more paint on the bumper & the left panel than Nissan did, if the rest of the paint was in need I would have done the whole car but se...

Nissan quoted ~$90 for the indicator lamp so maybe if I go back and ask for a Micra one .... As she sat Friday arvo: http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x296/mungyz/parts%20n%20stuff/001_zps847268df.jpg I did think the colour match wasn't that great BUT looking at the older photos it's a vast i...

I was unhappy with the notion that I had to spend another ~$350 for a repair cert given all the parts were bolt on parts & so in effect there was nothing (significant) on the car that had been "repaired". So I did some reading & research, certifier is wrong, the car only needs a re...

New windscreen fitted Front panel & bumper painted, panel fitted, bumper was still drying when I headed home. Have been told the car needs a repair cert to be re complied  Spoken to a qualified panel beater RE the repair cert & it's not going to be an issue but will cost me another $35...

The head unit has been replaced with an after market one, if there was a sub woofer from the factory it's gone now, it does have the steel panel there to fit the sub to but I didn't look very hard to see if there were any signs of it having one there in the past. No controls on the steering wheel fo...

It's a grand to hire the skid pan at Hampton Downs (or thereabouts) I'd be willing to chuck in half the cost so long as I have ten free entrees to the event. Large enough area to run a show n shine in the morning then get the cars dirty in the arvo - or the other way round just to be nasty to the cl...

Yeah fresh import being repaired, would have been easier just to swap the cars and repair this one that I purchased but the owner of the third Z33 in the story wanted to fix that one, it's an auto as well :? Replaced the front brake rotors and pads today, new tyres fitted to the front, new panel tes...

Another Z added to the family

This poor Z33 had suffered from a bad case of "Nek minnit!" Crashed into something & then defaulting on payments she was repossessed & then auctioned off eventually finding her way to the exact same wreckers yard my current ute came from "boy have we got a deal for you" t...

Yeah, trying to be PC & keeping to 90 - 100kph with the odd dabble at ~105 I guess if I had just stayed at 80 - 90 then I would have done a lot better on gas but as it was it was a seven hour trip by the time the loads were sorted out etc. Fifth gear is virtually redundant due to the ratio, fine...

Thanks! :D I hauled a Z32 back from Auckland yesterday & she proved she is up to the task - although a touch thirsty if you try to keep speeds up. Around 380Kms for $150 in fuel  I'm thinking a low pressure turbo setup & decent ECU + tune should help with that but it would take a looo...
