That is not how you shorten the shocks. You are talking about shortening the insert/shock body by making the shaft shorter. Search for sectioning struts. This involves replacing the insert with a shorter bodied unit after the strut tube has been shortened.

Great progress Martin. If you want my advice. Get your self a 260z accelerator pedal it is twice as strong as the weak 240z item. Those that have raced a 240z will know you can bend the 240z pedal all to easily.

I have not taken the head off to measure the bore size. But when I had the sump off to install the rear sump the pistons did look new from the bottom.
