Re: DJ's other 280ZX

Spent all week at work getting the Diablo ready for the Skope then working on the 488 Challenge. Haven't had much time to do any of my own stuff. https://i.imgur.com/VJMIN3m.jpg https://i.imgur.com/89kiGWz.jpg Today in between it spitting I thought I'd try and get the front kit mounted more permanen...

Re: Datsun 280ZX IMSA GTU replica race car build...

Hoke Performance in the States make a nice trigger kit but you'd have to drill the damper to mount the trigger wheel, but I guess you'll have to do that either way unless you run it off the flywheel. There's not much to them if you have a good fabricator though and you can get generic trigger wheels...

They are just V6 Commodore coils. You can get some nice coil on plug setups for L series now.

What are you running for a crank pulley?

Are you running the hats bolted to the original rotor bolt holes? Not between the hub and wheel?

Re: DJ's other 280ZX

Yes I got the cooling system all together, got James around to help bleed the clutch and managed to drive it out of where it's been for ages. Gave it a quick wash. Spent today doing a bit of cleaning and putting little bits and pieces back together. It's getting closer. https://i.imgur.com/9TOosRe.j...

Re: DJ's other 280ZX

I put the front kit on roughly the other day, it looks like it's been drilled to fit Fairlady Z front bumper mounts so I had to take the bumper shocks off and put my spare pair of them on. Got it started today, only ran it for a couple of minutes, it's got no exhaust and no cooling system. I had to ...

Re: DJ's 280ZX

Made up a mount for the new map sensor, I could really find a good place to put it so this might only be temporary. It's recommended that it gets mounted with the hose barb pointing downwards so any condensation drains out of it which makes it a pain to mount. Have to finish up the wiring and set it...

Re: DJ's other 280ZX

Got another Aerotech front bumper for this, when I got the parts car it came with a very rough one that I was planning on putting on this car but this one came up pretty cheap and looked pretty decent with only a minor patch job on it, it needs a little bit of smoothing out but it's way better so I'...

Re: DJ's 280ZX

The key to more power has arrived, Delphi 3 bar map sensor, now I can run up to ~30psi of boost. https://i.imgur.com/PGOZMbd.jpg The clutch pedal has been squeaking a bit recently, I had a look at it the other day and it's worn the pin and the clevis and probably the pedal, I think I'm going to repl...

Re: DJ's other 280ZX

Got the new rear sway bar bushes, shipping from Rockauto is fast. Put them in over the weekend, not a very fun job but I got there. Also did the fuel tank straps up and put the hose for the filler back on the tank. The rear end is 99% done, I have to get a split pin for the hand brake and bleed the ...

Re: DJ's other other 280ZX

How much of a squeeze is it to get the VK45DE into the engine bay of the 280zx? I assume the width is tight, and the height could possibly be helped with a dry sump... just thinking for future options on mine...:) I've seen a VK56 in one which is a little bit bigger than the 45 (I think), it fit pr...

Re: DJ's 280ZX

Got some new mirror glass cut out by North Canterbury Glass, he gave me half a left over tube of the proper stuff for sticking them in so hopefully no more fall out. Haven't done much else, drove it out to work for the track day and James helped me bleed the brakes which improved them but they aren'...

Re: DJ's other other 280ZX

Tossed up for a few days on whether to spend $220 to get a new thermostat housing thing and decided I'd try and fix the old one first. Basically the flange that bolts to the engine is mostly gone and the long part with the cap fitting on it is broken off close to the main body. So I took a photo of ...

I've got one you can have, are you running standard UJ axles in it?
