Update

Hey All

Managed to get a new alternator at trade price for $180 suited to car and bolted straight in with no more than a few oily fingers. Thankfully I can now drive at night with the lights ON!

Thank you all for your help and suggestions :)

Really just need simular power and obviously matching physical attaching points... Just to confirm the problem is the al...

Not Quite that simple!

Unfortunatly its still leaking coolant but cannot see from where exactly. My guess is its the radiator itself but I'm really hoping to be wrong! But the coolant is settling on the plate that sits under the radiator and the hose connection feels dry... Can I buy one of those pressure testing pump too...

Relatively easy fix after all :) pumped some more water through it and cleaned the waterneck out, which seamed to fix the problem! Phew no more money till I try a warrant haha >.<

Update

Just an update on this topic... The car stopped starting up completely a few days after I replaced the black box which I picked up second had from Dave. Had a few young mechanics check the problem out to see if they could shed any light on the problem without tearing it apart, and no, they couldn't!...

Ok so i cleaned out the dizzy without touching the bushings because it seams fine and i dont want to risk any further parts being replaced. Turns freely, all parts are intact and working fine, but in the top view picture the valve that comes off the main body is slightly ajar and has no gasket/seal ...

Sounds like the same problem. I just checked the dizzy and its been replaced with a mitsi dizzy at some stage. Not sure which black box your meaning because there is a part of the actual base that has a black lid on it, is that it? But its a part of the base not detachable. Do you know any good mech...

280ZX Cutting Out

Greetings all. I have just bought a nice condition 280zx 79 up in Auckland, or it was nice before it started randomly cutting out. The only thing I can see linking the few times it has happened is straight after going round a corner, although this may just be by chance. The engine does'nt give any i...
